wow, Flinders Interchange looks great. IMO this is much more important than the Noarlunga-Seaford extension, but I hope they both start soon.
The amount of people from the feeder buses and the comuting from the city to the uni/hospital, would be huge. Then theres the possibility of capturing just a small % of car drivers from South rd into a park n ride would make even more demand for the service. Broadguage/somebody would be most happy with the last suggestion

I worked at Bedford for 6 months and took the Tonsley train almost every day. The fact that my building was a one minute walk from the station yet most staff didn't even know it existed shows how wasted that line is right now. The potential for a hub is massive. Buses can now get out of the car park that is South Road and, with a bit of track work, passengers can be in the city in 15 minutes.

We could take a page from Melbourne's book and allow buses to use the break-down lane on the expressway.

Its going to be TOD city in that precinct if this goes ahead. I also agree that this is far more important than the seaford extension. Its just a shame that the original oaklands project was scaled back, because I think the original plans would have been almost this scope.

It's the states priority to fund PT - having said that, Krudd has his infrastructure fund at the moment which could lend some to Adelaide. Don't forget that you get GST revenue too.

Bribe him to give Adelaide money for useful projects that will actually benefit people instead of wasting $4bil on that useless 5km metro to Rozelle in Sydney.

as far as park n ride goes, I agree its a silly concept of a transit system, but its currently in vogue. IMO its better to have these people drive to their railway station, than drive all the way into city and caus congestion. There is an overwhelming attitude within the Aust suburban middle class, that it is inconceivable to leave your house other than in your car. If we could get some of these people to use their legs and walk down the street to their bus-stop, we've solved it all. But we cant, so to get atleast some of these people to drive to the train station is better than nothing

How many people drive into the CBD in the AM peak and back in the PM peak (only time of day wank+ride is useful for) anyway?

The sooner that transport planners, and the schoolboy gunzels realise that the CBD is not the destination of 90-95% of trips in the metropolitan areas in Australian cities, the better.

Yeah but this is Adelaide, and I would say our PT use would have the highest % of destination - CBD. Theres not much point in taking PT cross suburban in Adl, unless you are dependent on PT, or by fluke the bus that runs past your house travels straight past your suburban destination. Our city centre is King, unlike in Sydney

How do we cater/arrange PT for cross suburban trips in a low density city? Hundreds of mini bus routes, or major interchanges linking with one another? Nobody knows. So we may aswell focus on CBD/radial based PT for now

ok as well as having park and ride(P+R) we could also introduce a B+R or Bike and Ride to replace those stupid bike lockers, basically just swap the lockers for bike racks with a large shelter over them...

What you need is a proper grid network of frequent turn-up-and-go buses, to provide an alternative to car travel.
