Wouldn't be suprised if the crane goes up this weekend. In total about 13 sections of the crane tower are now resting on the slab next to the instaled crane base.
Cheers

To ozisnowman,
1) the sqm cost of land in the city is double or triple the cost of the suburbs.
2) Planning & pre-development expenses for high rise is far more expensive and takes far longer.
3) Building costs to build high rise is double to triple the cost per sqm of basic residential building.
4) The risk is also a lot greater [if buyers dont settle at the end] and because of the big numbers, the interest rate/bill is a lot bigger a factor. Towards the end of say a $120m development, the interest bill is ticking at say $35,000 every day [great fun for a developer when no work is going on ie weekends, RDOs, 4-weeks holidays etc].

To how_good_is_he you dont get the point, i am refering to the great australian
apartment price rip-off. In Europe the price of apartments are specified not by
total price but rather per sq/m that way you can compare different builders
and different apartment sizes for value for money.
Its the same principal there trying to introduce into our supermarkets now
in relation to the price per unit. Same should happen with apartments
as a cost per sq/m and off course you would expect those in the
suburbs to be less than those in the city unless they have exceptional
view etc.

I can see the Altitude crane going up from my office.

Sounds good Ben.
Can't wait to see the crane up on this one.

No crane went up today. They were doing some other work. I'd say next saturday would be the likely date.

Rest of the crane is on its way up. It's a Brookfield Multiplex crane with neon blue signage.

Yep, can see the boom from my desk.
Any chance of a pic from your viewpoint Ben?

The CBD and skyline will get a change towards the west after all these years
Thanks for the photo!

This is great to see. Thanks for the pic Ben.
Seeing the crane go up gives a good idea of what is going to be built there. It sure will alter our skyline. Especially if all the others go up over time too. Like the sound of the blue neon signage at night too.

I find it interesting that when this crane is fully extended it would be over 100m high yet the height restrictions in most of this area are 43m with special exception given to the precinct site at 63m. Goes to show how much potential there is for an increase within AAL limits if the council allow it.
