I have no problem with renders playing with strange perspectives and stretching the buildings beauty a bit. We all expect that and can see through it. I just think it's a shame the design looks like it's been changed on the run and dumbed down. Where's the modern, flush fitting reflective glass and the balance in design for the top half gone? This dull, non-reflective looking glass is littered with frames and the two vertical rows on the left side are being filled in to the top so it won't match the right side. Apart from the basic framework it's a poor imitation of the aesthetic approved by council.

If the incredibly sleek look of the large flush panels in the 400KWS render turns out to be the same people using the same interpretation of the highly framed glass used here I'll be disappointed. A potentially stunning building could go from hero to zero real quick.

From that angle in that light; yes, it does look better.

Mt Barker would be better, the hills would block it out!

Oh please I hope not, or I will be one disappointed person

I'm not singling you out on this, but that last sentence expresses an attitude that is a real problem in this state.
We should not be happy with "just ok", "its better then nothing or then whats around it".
We should be demanding the very best for our state and city.

When I came back into Adelaide on Tuesday, I noticed that you can see this building when coming down SDBD, and dare I say, it looks fugly as from a distance. An absolute pity also that its not that impressive up-close either.

Unfortunately this building has turned out to be another Theo Samaras cheapy. Real pity since it had potential. The renderings looked too good to be true.

Cheers

Yep.

I don't hold out much hope for the old Repco site either. I'm probably one of the few who doesn't like the design in the first place, but either way, you just know the finished product - glass especially - is going to look nothing like that.

I would have loved it if that old proposal to redevelop the existing building into a hotel was able to go through. It would have looked fantastic.
