I wonder what they're aiming at in future with such a vast sized project as this?
SA - STATE ON THE MOVE
SA - STATE ON THE MOVE
Jack.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
I think more of a freight bypass around the Northern Suburbs, and to accelerate freight movement from the Barossa and the North-East to the Port.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
the aim is to replace Main North Rd in the auslink network and to take heavy vehicle traffic off heaslip road
norman, where can i find that video??

Thanks Norman. How many of those traffic lights are new? Is that a new set on the intersection of Martins Road?

You can get a guide to the new/upgraded intersections here:AtD wrote:Thanks Norman. How many of those traffic lights are new? Is that a new set on the intersection of Martins Road?

It's on Page 2.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Thanks. I used to live in the area and I don't really think Martins Road needed signals, it's just going to slow down traffic IMO. Sure, the queue turning right onto Martins Road used to get very, very long, but the huge gaps in southbound traffic allowed for the entire queue to turn in one go.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
You may be right in saying that, but there have been a few serious and a couple fatal accidents at that intersection. They really had no choice but to, turning right from Martins Rd onto Pt Wakefield would have been even more dangerous as there are now 2 lanes turning from Pt Wakefield onto Martins Rd and city bound traffic at the intersection is now 3 lanes.AtD wrote:Thanks. Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Port Wakefield Road Upgrade has been a major disaster since conception.
Firstly to try and upgrade 20 od kilometres of road all at once but in little bits
here and there is absolutely stupid and has caused constant delays for months
on end...
But most importantly to have such a short sighted view to this upgrade is
typical of the tight arsed penny pinching ways of this State Government...
To install new traffic lights at more intersections may make the road safer
but its not going to help the throughput when traffic increases infact
i doubt you will ever be able to travel 90km/hr on it anywhere near peak
daylight hours.
Why did the government not build overpasses etc for these intersections???
The Government needs to go on a trip to Victoria, Queensland etc to see
how highways should be built so they are free flowing and can cope with
increased traffic, not to take the cheap and nasty option all the time
and put in another set of traffic lights... unless they have a hidden agenda
of putting more red light/speed cameras at these new intersections.
