On the ACC website on the PDF for the 2006/2007 budget there is $1.5Mill set aside for the intersection Rundle/pulteney Streets to transform into Adelaides answer to times square.
There is also a render however I do not know how to post it in here if it's possible but looks fantastic!

Here's the render. I can't figure out if they're meant to be huge screens or big posters. $1.5m for screens seems too little and too much for posters. My guess is it's gotta be screens for it be called a 'Times Square'.

Almost everyday I shed a tear for what they ripped down on that Hungry Jacks carpark site.
If the old building was a transformed hotel/entertainment complex now, it would make a huge difference to the city.

I imagine that the idea is for advertisers to pay for the signage, and it will be up to them how fancy or hi-tech that is, with the council simply providing the space. I wouldn't hold my breath expecting anything too fancy. But anything is a start. Times Square didn't develop into what it is today, overnight.

I was hoping that the whole facade of both carparks would be covered in bright neon advertising.
However this project is a start and it will provide more light into the city. It will be a great entrance into cosmopolitan Rundle Street and hopefully it will subcontiously make Adelaide more acceptable to young people. Young people are like moths, they are attracted to the light.

yeah get rid of Hungry Jack's. It's a a cheap fast food joint for one and the carparks above are horrible. Plus its always full of teenage gangs on a friday/saturday night.
[COM]
Don't know about gangs, but normally emo's.
I've got no problems with HJ's on that corner, it's been providing students with fast food for as long as i can remember.

I have nothing in particular about those emos, but their attitude of hanging around and sitting on the floor is a little disturbing.
HJ's location is alright, just need a bit of clean up over there especially the buildings.

yeah, don't get me wrong, HJ needa survive, its just I've always though they look a little outa place on Rundle street, because its one of our finest eating strips. Lucky its right down though.

id rather see HJs on the other side of that block, down near Academy Cinemas on Hindmarsh Square, Entrance to Rundle Street isnt too flash, Two multi-level carparks, Target and a HJs, topped off with multitudes of emos

just wondering, how old are you howie?
because i've always though the word "emo" is used among today's youth. All the europeans (aka wogs ) at school are calling all the kids that wear something slightly black 'emos'. Even I got called one because I wore black converse allstars. LOL me an emo? Yeah the emo that's into pop music lol.
