I must say there were definetly some redundent tram services which should have gone, but not all of them. The entire city system, Norwood, North Adelaide and Unley would still be used, although some intersections would be rather interesting now. I think the Dequetteville Terrace Roundabout and at Hackney Road would be a nightmare. Main North and Prospect Roads might be impossible now.

I also find it interesting - perhaps even ironic, that the Glenelg line was the one without any offshoots and the one that survived - if Glenelg had a line down South Road or Marion Road or even Morphett Road - I wonder if it would still be here.

However how good was it that Adelaide Oval, Victoria Park Racecourse and the showgrounds all had tram services - logic would say that the airport would have a tram now as well.

Well I wouldn't expect the CBD to change much at all. The streets were layed in 1836!

One feature nobody's commented on is the roads that are no longer there. Some, like the S end of Morphett Road, were merely closed to traffic, while others (like the N end of Morphett Rd, were obliterated by the airport. Of course there were also a few that were obliterated by other things such as Marion Shopping Centre. I'd never realised Beaumont Rd once went to the intersection of Greenhill Rd and what's now Fullarton Rd. But I think the most surprising one was Blythewood Rd, which met not only Fullarton Rd, but also a road to Eagle On The Hill!

wow, how many suburb names are on those maps that dont exist or have even heard of before - Caversham, Bristol, Sydenham, Hamilton, Newstead, Knoxville (Glenside), Pechkam, Vermont, Springbank etc. I also didnt know that part of St Peters was actually called East Adelaide. The primary school up my street is called East Adelaide PS, but never knew it was a suburb name

Yeah, Frome St never existed, Ive seen pictures when it was a small laneway in between Rundle and North Tce, and those old 3 storey buildings along Rundle St (with the large mural on the Frome st side), continued further along to the west which contained a corner hotel. When the hotel was demolised to make a wider street (Frome), a big flat wall was created, which is where that large mural of the bike is

The kindergarten in Edwardstown still carries the former name of the area, Harcourt Gardens.
Cross Road and the Parade had a number of aliases back then, also.
