"An application to use vacant land at 42-56 Franklin St as an open-lot car park was withdrawn"

Sounds promising.

I say that's not long enough. It should go the entire city mile.

Why?

Majority of Hindley Street is dead during the day, making it a pedestrian mall will not help.

Yes it's dead down towards West Tce, but i'm talking about the section between KWS and Morphett St

from what i've seen it has a lot more pedestrians than cars...

Tindo?
Question to anyone in the know, or anyone who can find out...

How is the Tindo electric bus trial going? What sort of capacity is it meeting? Are electric buses something that might work on a larger scale (as short feeder and hop on hop off routes)? How far is it getting before it needs to be recharged?

I was replying to Shuz's comment, though the only part that gets busy during the day is the section of King William & Leigh Streets

I don't think it's a trial, this bus is here to stay. And I heard somewhere that they are purchasing another one to serve the route in the opposite direction.

If they were buying it as a birthday present for your Harvey, then they're bloody late.

Did you have a happy 20th birthday today? :)

It's a trial as far as it's the first of a kind. Everyone who cares is looking at it to learn lessons.

Thanks Brando - I am working the internet hard keeping in mind:

• The power of networks;
• The fact the average age of Adelaide residents is going down at a rather significant rate thus its a highly relevant medium;
• I can engage with the wider South Australian community – very important as a Capital City Councillor;
• it is cost and time effective for someone with limited time and $ who wants to make a difference;
• Most small businesses are on line; and
• It’s the best way of gaining support to implement progress!

Re Tindo.

I am happy to ask this as a “question on notice” at the meeting after next as it is too late for the next meeting (deadline was Tuesday).

I certainly have a vision for a fleet of electric busses – only they cost $1mill each!

Good news is I will be asking my fellow councillors to tie down funding for solar panels on the roof of the central market (a clean and green market!) as we have scored $415k from the Feds and need to match that with around $400k of our own.

Do you mean within just the City of Adelaide? The statistics I recall for metropolitan Adelaide confirm the demographic trend of the overall Australian population, that of an increasing average age.
