Yes, but this is accelerated climate change. Such anomalies shouldn't be occuring so 'quickly'.
Last year's heatwave was a 1 in 3000 years incidence, yet, look what happened this year - we're close to rivaling its timeframe, but we already exceeded it's intensity.

Australian towns beating records for longest heatwaves, and hottest days, Europe and U.S being blanketed in snowstorms of 1 in 50 year scales on a frequent basis, increased hurricane activity and intensity - Burma, Katrina... these are all very significant anomalies and should not be treated with warning, but with decisive and immediate action.

Fumo Blu? At Glenelg? My parents love that place
NO! You fool! Fumo Blu on Rundle Street.

Who is this imposter at Glenelg?

If you want to debate it further please start a thread on climate change and I'll happily join in, but I don't think we should hijack this thread any further because it's not the topic of this thread. It is an interesting debate though and I have my opinions but I don't claim to know everything about it for certain!

Well, 24 days left Wayno. You better be quick, or you'll be waiting until next year!

this heatwave is going out with a BANG - nearly 44 yesterday, and already 40 today (10:02am)!

It's probably been said, but if you have no recourse to a/c, sit with your feet in cold water deeper than your ankles. The ankles have a lot of blood close to the surface and cooling them makes the whole body feel cool.

NB I'm sure Howie's personality profile is that of a 'helper'. No disrespect at all - I for one am very grateful for the fantastic forum he has built here. If teh game were fair he'd score a gong for community service before some of the time-serving bozo's whom it pleases some people to call public servants.

In fact, I might nominate Mr Ly for some such recognition the next time something like that comes around.

Not sure if this is practical, but it's good:

Ice a boston shaker glass and add:
30mL Cointreau
30mL Lemon Juice
30mL Orange Juice
10mL of simple syrup

Put the boston shaker metal cup on the glass and shake it like it owes you money (about 10 seconds).

Bruise a mint leaf (clap it between your hands - what you don't work in a cocktail bar?) and place in a tumbler.
Pour the contents of the shaker into the glass, you can add extra ice and a dash of soda if you wish.

I just invented/discovered this and I'm about to make another, what should I call it?
(Nb St Clements is already taken)
