COM: Northern Expressway | 22km
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
I think the reason why there is a set of traffic lights at the future express way/Port Wakefield Road intersection is because the Northern Connector (if built) will have an overpass replace the intersection, the current traffic light set up could very well be a stop gap solution until if or when the connector is built to the Salisbury Highway extension.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
The Northern Connector would be a total Port Wakefield Road bypass.ozisnowman wrote:...

the first concrete has been poured at the curtis and angle vale interchanges
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
there will be a grade separated interchange at Pt Wakefield Rd/Nexy and will be built as part of NExy regardless of whether the Northern Connector is built.Will409 wrote:I think the reason why there is a set of traffic lights at the future express way/Port Wakefield Road intersection is because the Northern Connector (if built) will have an overpass replace the intersection, the current traffic light set up could very well be a stop gap solution until if or when the connector is built to the Salisbury Highway extension.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Port Wakefield Road is back up to being 90 km/h Except for a small section that is 80 km/h
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Whin this is completed will there be an open day prior to it opening to traffic ?
This would be a good one for keen cyclists to ride the full length of. It's length would also make it suitable for a marathon or half marathon event. Opening a road project with a marathon may well be unique.

I would say so. They did that when Stage 2 of the Southern Expressway opened.Whin this is completed will there be an open day prior to it opening to traffic ?
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Wouldn't surprise me if they one day make the new Northern Expressway part of a Stage in the Tour Down Under??? Maybe a leg from the Barossa Valley to Sempahore or something like that???drsmith wrote:This would be a good one for keen cyclists to ride the full length of. "SA GOING ALL THE WAY".
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
The Angle Vale Road bridge beams have been erected and are due to be erected at the Curtis Road interchange on 22 February.
The Asphalt plant will be operational at the end of this month.
Work is due to start on the Pt Wakefield Road interchange in the next two months.
I have uploaded a photo of the angle vale road bridge beams being erected but i dont know if i have done it properly...
More to follow when I get some time.

There's some good progress occurring there. Looks like the earthworks are rapidly taking shape. Thanks for that update.

Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
one minor correction Norman
Heaslip Road was to be an underpass in the reference design, but the actual design is Heaslip Road over NEXY now.
