[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade
The Community Open Day will be on the 15th March, 11am to 3pm. I will certainly be there. I hope I get my camera back by then!
[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade
Any action on the tram overpass?
EDIT: Nevermind! Contractor to be announced in March or April.

Good effort Norm!
I do question the authencity of the claim that the underpass is wide enough to accomodate 3x3, if required to do so in future. It looks like it can only do 2x2 without compromising safety - like the Goodwood road underpass does, as your side mirrors come very close to contact with the median thing, cars, and walls.

Well that last photo threw me! Where the hell is that?
That aside, thanks for your efforts Norman, it's good to see these photos cos I can't get there easily myself.

Of course it's not wide enough to accommodate 3x3. It's probably not even wide enough to accommodate 3+3.Shuz wrote:Good effort Norm!

But nor should it be! Considering the amount of traffic that leaves and joins at Anzac Highway, it would be better to devote an entire lane to it rather than requiring it to merge. Unless there's a eventual aspiration to upgrade the rest of South Road to 4+4 (which would be hopelessly uneconomic due to the amount of property acquisition it would require) the underpass is better off as 2+2.

Good shots, Norman. its gives a excellent idea of it. I suppose It is enough room to 3X3, specially in the future if they use the space between the ways. It seems to me that they are wasting to much room with that concrete split. It is just an opinion comparing to the patterns from Rio, where I live.
Once again, Congratulations. I would love to see images of final ground painting.

More bland. Wish our paving was more like the mosaics of Lisbon and Rio.
Adelaide, Saudi Australia.
[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade
Yeah, Cam. I guess you know portuguese style using stones everywhere. I agree that mosaics in Copacabana (black/white waves) are a kind of brand to Rio with satue of Christ the redeemer either. However our traffic is chaotic. We have freeways, tunnels, subway, train, ferries, bridges, tram, buses (a lot), underpasses, flyovers, ets. and It is becoming worst every year. So I see Adelaide as a fantastic city, "virgin" in chaos (compared to other cities), which needs to be very careful about the decisions to make. Future generations will harvest everything you are doing know. Thats why I take part in Sensational Adelaide a city I want to my kid. Upgrade South Road seems to me fundamental to the city at this point but It will also attract more vehicles. You know, It will be not different from other places. People are alike everywhere. So public tranportation will be the best solution afterwards. No way. Last weekend I spent 2,5 hours to make 15km within Rio, just because I want "confort". Stupid.

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade
I'm still interested to find out if there are going to be bus lanes for busses turning from south road right onto anzac highway in the final design..
[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade
No, there won't be. But there will be three lanes able to turn right at all times.muzzamo wrote:I'm still interested to find out if there are going to be bus lanes for busses turning from south road right onto anzac highway in the final design..
