i've never known any building to be redesigned as many times as this
as for the GFC....are you expecting it to be over by next year?

I put my photoshopping skills to the works; and voila! Spire & CC8.

ha nice work, what an odd lumpy thing CC8 looks next to Spire.Shuz: I put my photoshopping skills to the works; and voila! Spire & CC8.

Even though CC8 is still a pile of Duplo bricks dumped by some errant child, I feel a warm glow all over when I see that.Shuz wrote:I put my photoshopping skills to the works; and voila! Spire & CC8.

Surprise surprise! What a great combination. Looks impressive. Spire redesign V. sleek overall. My usual gripe however - surrounding awnings please.

Greetings all! My sincerest apologies for my absence, but I've been working on something very exciting that will be released in the next couple of weeks, I'm sure you're all going to love it!!
Good to see that everyone's seen the new render, everything should be uploaded to the website soon, including the new fly-thru. The project is not dead, just on hold. For those who haven't been living on earth, the GFC has had serious affect on most projects of this nature, and whilst it doesn't kill them completely, it just means that the developer needs to go back and restructure the loan advance to ensure that they don't go broke trying to build it. The banks have pulled the LVR's right back, and their criteria now includes a full inventory of the client's underwear drawer as well.
That aside, I'm pleased to say that the development is virtually ready to go, the developer is just waiting on some small banking issues to resolve themselves. I anticipate we will be seeing a crane in the next few months. I promise to keep everyone updated from here on in.
PS: everyone should keep an eye on the media in the next couple of weeks for some interesting news about a development called "Riverside" - I'm tipping this will be at the forefront of the next State election...

Riverside, like, next to the River Torrens?
Adelaide's Southbank confirmed!
Seriously though, good to see the new render and news Spire is about to go ahead... this thing has been in the making for many years. Too many years. Here's to more high-capacity residental buildings in the CBD!

Thanks for the good news at last. This building will make a real difference to Adelaide and we need some signs of confidence in the future. I see the GFC running for a couple of years so any investor would be nervous but as long as the demand is there the development can make a profit.
Couple of larger buildings being developed (and some starting) here in Port Moresby despite the recession in many countries and the lack of capital here. The resource sector is driving demand here and the rental costs / accommodation here is astronomical in comparison to Australia - maybe double.

any tips on who might be building this? one would think multiplex would be in the box seat due to scale.
