This from Culwulla on SSC:
In another post on the same site Culwulla says it will be dumbed down a fair bit compared to this render. No surprises there.chatted to architect today.
this one will be submitted to council soon. Its 24storeys and 115m.
he did say the tower will look slightly less dramatic then render shows.
hopefully demand will take this to construction stage and not on back burner.

That is one gorgeous building! I hope they build it and keep it the way it is, but somehow I doubt that it will be built exactly as originally proposed.
[CAN] Re: #PRO: 51 Pirie Street | 27 levels | Office
Someone better change the thread title, to include 115m height!
[CAN] Re: #PRO: Pirie Street - 24 Level
i though it was F&P as soon as i saw the render. looks very simlar to the style they are pursuing at the moment. refer to bishops see north and south towers in perth.AtD wrote:The architect is Fitzpatrick Partners (only seems to work in IE)
This development is 30,000sqm. The developer is, Charter Hall Group (CHC.AX), the listed property trust that was behind the KPMG building, 151 Pirie Street, on Hindmarsh Sq.
I count 27 floors, including ground.
would look great in adelaide.

Is it this render, or the "dumbed down" one, that actually appears in the documents presented to the approval process?UrbanSG wrote:This from Culwulla on SSC:

Would be great to se this at between 35-40 levels, would be a great new tallest....
[CAN] Re: #PRO: 51 Pirie Street | 27 levels | 115m - Office
and i bet the DAC would approve it given it's location!ozisnowman wrote:Would be great to se this at between 35-40 levels, would be a great new tallest....

Wayno, I find myself agreeing here, esp. out of ACC hands. I would hate dumbing down this bldg - would detract from the effectiveness of the external design.
115m - good height there. BTW - How high - in metres - is the 'black stump'? (as a reference point).
I keep going back and looking at it over and over - can't believe it's in Adelaide yet!

Westpac House stands 135m above ground level, 179m AHD (height above sea level). Assuming "cbd ground level" at 51 Pirie St is similar to Westpac, then AHD for this building would be 159m.
51 Pirie St is slightly more East than Westpac House (further from the airport), and a few extra degrees divergent from the standard runway path. I could see the DAC gaining approval for ~200m AHD without troubles, and maybe much taller if Rann puffs up his chest...

Capital City was approved at 200m, which was much closer to the flight path - so I think 250m+ is definetly viable at this location. (Assuming that the clearance threshold dissapates with distance, and with angle to runway alignment)Wayno wrote:Westpac House stands 135m above ground level, 179m AHD (height above sea level). This proposed building is only a few metres from Telstra House and will be approximately the same height (both are around 24 levels depending on which method you use to count). So this could be a floor or two higher than Telstra House, but from street level they would look about the same height.Wayno wrote:Westpac House stands 135m above ground level, 179m AHD (height above sea level). I don't see any reason why this site couldn't be higher. Other than the usual market forces which is what keeps our buildings shorter than some wish. It's actually a largish block if you look at it from my vantage point, so there's a lot of floor space to lease. And if I ever work out how to open the double glazed windows and remove the damn micro blinds without incurring the ire of security -- I would take a photo.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

Stunning! What's this I read about dumbing down? Not acceptable - keep this marvellous shiny thing in all its current glory!
[CAN] Re: #PRO: 51 Pirie Street | 27 levels | 115m - Office
I don't see why so many people here are so caught up in the figure for the height, other than issues relating to flight path interference. It completely misses the point as to why the building has been proposed in the first place. In any case, the design is an interesting first for Adelaide.
