Demolish berlin wall hole and create an open plaza area perhaps with an outdoor cafe. There are plenty of office buildings in the area to make it viable.

I agree, once these buildings are complete and have people working in them the end of King William street is going to be quite a busy hub. It will be like a city within a city so there will needto be adeqate food shops/coffee shops and maybe even retail shops.

I hope a Cibo coffeee shop will open up there as I am a big fan especially that they are SA run and owned!

That wall is disgusting!Reminds me of urban blight at large - in the wrong place. As has been said, even a low rise coffee shop/caffe would complement the area very nicely ( aesthetically and functionally ). You never know what may happen in the times ahead. I'm sure many have already thought of this developing market.

Some of what appears to be the 'fake' copper panels and also shading devices have gone up over a part of the northern elevation of the Edge building. I am guessing the glass will not be to far off now.

Good to see the Berlin Wall getting a new dark grey paint job over the last couple of days. Looks ten times better already, it is amazing what new paint can do to a building.

Yes the building is still ugly overall but a new paint job has improved it a fair bit.

OHHH Crap..

If they are painting the Berlin Wall, is will become very unlikely that it will be demolished!

No it won;t be demolished anytime soon. Also a new cafe/restaurant bar is opening in the next few weeks in the previously vacant southern end of the building.

Obviously it won't get demolished anytime soon. Surprised anyone thought that might even have been a chance at the moment. If there was a chance I'm sure the Edge/Wave developer would have tried to include that allotment in their development considering it is a corner allotment. Obviously the owner wants to keep the site as is. Plus a new development application has been lodged for the site so any development would be a long way off.

The next best thing is at least a basic upgrade which is what the owners are doing. Plus the Edge and Wave development are taking all the attention away from that building especially now it has a new fresh paint job. It don't think it sticks out so much now it has been painted.

Abadco, owned by the Ng family, are responsible for the wave & edge development. They were previously the owners of the belin wall, however sold it about 2 years ago. Must have had an offer too good to refuse. For interest sake, they also own the brecknock and the breckon inn next door on Gilbert Street.

The Brecknock info most interesting considering there was a possible high rise bldg there - see the Hill's thread. It was shown as a shadow outline about 10 -12 levels high overlying the current site behind the Brecknock hotel. May still happen if these two give good returns.
