Can anybody who knows about construction tell me what these yellow things are used for? I have noticed them on all construction sites once they get to a certian height and has always puzzled me.

Basically a large drawer, which can be rolled out for crane to deposit a load onto, then rolled in for unloading (andBen wrote:Can anybody who knows about construction tell me what these yellow things are used for? vice versa).

Thanks for that. I guess that makes sense that they go up around the time glass would go up too? Hopefully means glass is not far offXaragmata wrote:Basically a large drawer, which can be rolled out for crane to deposit a load onto, then rolled in for unloading (andBen wrote:Can anybody who knows about construction tell me what these yellow things are used for? No, they're Preston bins. Essentially all rubbish etc is placed in it, to which is can be lifted down at a later date.

You can see them here ... http://www.prestonhire.com.au/products/superdeck.phpBen wrote:Thanks for that. I guess that makes sense that they go up around the time glass would go up too? "Preston's SUPERDECK patented technology allows the platforms to be easily rolled in or out as required
(similar to the draws in a filing cabinet), for the first time allowing the platforms to be installed vertically."
Here's a sequence of pics on the Palais site, showing them rolled in & out as required for crane:

Great shot there Ben. Shows the scale of the new southern CBD buildings very well.
I love late afternoon/early evening photos of the city. Always great shadows and window reflections etc.

No photos seem to be doing justice to the marble - would be impressive however. How many floors up will the marble go?

Thanks AtD. I asked this because I thought I saw (partway into on this thread) alterations as to the level at which the glass started and the marble ended. This was shown diagrammatically only. So 8 levels of glass should look impressive - if no strong glare occurs.AtD wrote:3 floors. See render on first page.skyliner wrote:How many floors up will the marble go?
