Re: #U/C The West Lakes Collection, 2x8storey
I know from a buyer at Infinity that owners up to the fourth floor have settled, moved in and are happy.
It is correct that the buildings completion is staged, mainly because a lot of time is needed at the end to do all the detail and finishes. Further they will only use a small team of trades that they have used over many years to safeguard the quality .They won't risk getting in unknowns just to save time.
Been told when complete, the top floors will definately be the best penthouses in SA, if not Australia. I know a big call but the builder just won the National [Australia wide] Master Builder for Medium density developments plus HIA home of the year. Teflon Fox, I have also been told views are mind blowing up there.

Thanks for the pics. Here in Canberra we have crap TV, slow internet and the list goes on. Only 9 more months before I can call Adelaide home again.

Thanks for the pics Allkai.
Geeze large shopping centres are so damn ugly especially from above. AAMI Stadium is a shocker too. Otherwise the sea and view of the Hills are okay.

Looks like there are 5 bldgs about 7/8 levels high from the photos. Will look even more impressive with more on the other side of the lake - will probably turn into a different socio economoic area over time with regattas on the lake etc etc,. Fantastic views. The eyesore is the shopping centre - I'\m glad there is a returning trend to linear centres.
This kind of resi setup occurs along the Bris. River in Coronation St - not overloaded - top end about 10 floors and scattered . Great views and all rather tastefully done with much intervening vegetation. I can see this in West Lakes but with light rail in the mix.

This is exactly what West Lakes needs - a bit of money spent freshening up the area. I imagine it was quite the address back in its day - the best new suburb in the world in the early '90s, if I remember rightly, but it seems to have become a little tired around the edges since then.
Incidentally, does anyone know what has become of that series of ponds and gardens on the north side of West Lakes Boulevard on Delfin Island? Google Earth shows me that practically the entire area has been ripped out, but I'm intrigued to know what they (whomever 'they' are) plan to do with the site.

It was Golden Grove that won the award for world's best address. I remember a family having a "I live in the world's best address" bumper sticker.Omicron wrote:This is exactly what West Lakes needs - a bit of money spent freshening up the area. The duck pond and retaining walls all underwent a big renovation and are still there [the photo was when it was being worked on].
West Lakes and then later in the 90s Golden Grove both won Worlds best awards.

Re: #U/C The West Lakes Collection, 2x8storey
yeh its need of a bit of a revamp, its starting now really with the mall renovations, apartments, old houses knocked down, new ones built. It would have been the best thing since sliced bread back in the 70s and 80s, now most of the houses are very outdated, very seventies style with the brown brick. Yeh the pond is all filled now, nice place to feed the ducks. One big mistake was shutting the deli/cafe that sits next to the pond and turning it into a dentist.

Not really - I think it went broke - so if people dont frequent it and the place cant make money what choice is there?
The dentists probably make far more so can pay the rent & on time. So supply and demand.
