Reserve judgement until the mall side is revealed.
But from that view, I prefer the previous design.

Seems this one is not approved yet. It was withdrawn form the last DAC meeting.

From the minutes of the meeting:
SECTION 34 APPLICATIONS
10.1 Alteman SA – Redevelopment of Harris Scarfe – Grenfell Street and Rundle Mall, Adelaide – Central Business Area Zone (Policy Areas 14 and 15) – Adelaide City Council – Reserved Matters (020/0020/08) –

This was only a temporary setback, as at the upcoming DAC meeting on March 12, the DAC is expected to approve the ammended plans for this project. The ammended plans include retail tenancies to both Francis Street and Lindes Lane amongst other things.

Retails tenancies on the two laneways is an excellent idea, in keeping with our vision of making these places more lively (hopefully even after hours).

Any news Will, on the DAC meeting?

As expected, the plans were approved by the DAC.

In addition I can report that the new plans involve at-least 4 retail tenancies that actually open up onto each lane.

So when does construction start??? I know i sound optimistic but I would love for something new to start and hopefully invigorate us!

Latest estimates on the grapevine are demolition of current store to begin in June 2009.

Seems this is set to become an even greater development. This will bring so much more life to the area. Definately my most anticipated development to commence.

Harris Scarfe is now holding a sale in celebration of 160 years in Rundle Mall.

This is nothing really to do with the development as such, but I have it on good authority that the intention is to immediately follow this sale with a closing down sale.

You may recall something very similar happened at John Martins just before they closed down, but in their case I think it was only 130 years not 160.

Did you see what i bolded AG? They are including an additional allotment. Not sure which one at this stage.
