There was a story in yesterdays Sunday Mail about future terminal expansion, hotels, carpark etc.
I would love to see the terminal extended and a tram line to the city to be included. However i
dont think the T2 design is the best. I reckon that they should extend the T1 as planned and then
build a semi circle shaped building at the end. This building T2 should house the international
airport and have about 8-10 aerobridges. Also it should properly have 3 decks one deck for
outgoing, one for immigration/incoming and one for baggage etc. Sharing of decks like
that in T1 is a bit crappy. Dont get me wrong T1 is a great domestic terminal but it doesnt
look like an international terminal. If required another terminal linking up with T1 and T2
and effectively opposite but parrallet with T1 could be build for General Aviation later if required.

terminal and then back to the city. Hence not being an end point/wait point...

^^ I suspect the aircraft handling capacity of the proposed terminal extension / new terminal will be higher than your curved suggestion.

Big plans for Adelaide airport revamp

A draft master plan for Adelaide airport includes a new terminal, hotel and multi-level car park for about 1,500 cars.
The plan proposes the new terminal will be built on the site of the old domestic terminal, which has nearly been demolished.
There are provisions for a plaza forecourt outside the current terminal and moving the taxi pick-up and drop-off points to the new car park.
Beyond 2014 the plan includes expanding the car park and building a bridge to connect the car park to the current terminal.
The plan also highlights the airport's concerns about neighbouring residents training pigeons and rock doves near the airport during busy periods.
The airport's managing director Phil Baker says the plan is not set in stone, but is an idea of what they want to do with the land.
But he says a new terminal will definitely be built.
"I think for most people that's what they care about most and certainly that's our view too with the terminal and the other passenger facilities, and shifting some of the freight and the hangers eventually to make way for an even larger terminal as we go forward over the next 20 years," he said.
The plan is open for public comment for another eight weeks.

You wouldn't be surprised how many Adelaide Passengers going through to Singapore end up flying Qantas domestic to Melbourne around Lunchtime during the week to connect onto the QF9 or end up going with Singapore Airlines.It is the same with Hong Kong You either fly Cathay Pacific or leave earlier in the day to Sydney with Qantas or Virgin and connect from there onwards.I could list everywhere else too but that would take all day.

The stupid thing is that Sydney would not need a second airport if more filghts were spread around other airports in australia (not just melbourne either).
There is too much reliance on sydney airport and they should stop hoging all the international flights.

It's because Sydney is a hub. Airlines can fill long haul flights ex Sydney a lot easier than ex other cities because there's more flights elsewhere, making it easier to connect flights. I'd suspect a large number of Sydney's traffic is transit passengers.

All airlines have systems to know the exact size of a market. They know how many passengers leave Adelaide to each destiny and through what connections. And we have to understand the factors to make a city a hub, I mean, cost. Aviation is a complex industry with no margin for adventures because the operations are expensive and risky. I agree that Adelaide deserves direct flights to many places but we have to be reasonable as we only have aprox 1.5 mil people living around here. However, our role is to complain to a point that more companies will risk direct flights.

My first thought was that it didn't matter. Who cares if Qantas don't have direct flights from Adelaide to Hong Kong when Cathay Pacific do? It's a similar story for Kuala Lumpur. It's not easy for any airline to make a profit, so it should be up to Qantas which routes it wants to compete on. And the more Qantas neglects Adelaide, the more attractive it is to other airlines.
But then I remembered when I first came to Adelaide, on a one way ticket from London. Flight BA011 came via Perth, and the last leg of the journey had far fewer passengers (as because it was an international flight, passengers could get off in Perth, but not get on). I don't need to list the changes to the airline industry since then, but despite Qantas being able to carry domestic and international passengers on the same flight, none of their flights between Adelaide and Perth go any further. So the obvious question is: why not? There seems to be an obvious opportunity to (at minimal cost) give passengers the opportunity to travel to Europe (or even Africa) without the hassle or delay of changing planes, and a lot of passengers would rather do so.
As I wondered if Qantas had ever tried doing so, I decided to look at their current route map. I was surprised to find there weren't any flights from Perth to Europe at all. Despite aircraft being available to get from Perth to London non stop, and Qantas's stated long term intention of introducing direct flights in order to successfully compete with the Asian airlines, they seem to be ignoring their chance to actually do it!

Action going on the SouthEast corner of Adelaide Airport
I drive down James Melrose Road at Glenelg quite often. Recently there has been some clearing work going on on the corner of Morphett Road, that seems more the just the process of laying the pipe for the transfer of shit going from Glenelg onto the Parklands. Are they subdividing it for commercial use or what?
