I'm curious to know what it is that people expect to observe from these obeservation towers - the roofs of the surrounding buildings, their airconditioners pumps and vents, pigeon nests? The tower design has a "where have I seen this before" kinda quality to it. Not so much Eiffel as the Blackpool Tower, and there's something about the design elements, especially in the north section, that is rather Victoriana like Kew Gardens; or (if they added some boules players) Parisian. If Adelaide had built something like that in 1895 or even 1920, it would be quite a treasure, but it seems a bit backward looking for 2010.

That proposal looks like it has been recycled from the Victorian era. lol (Maybe they took the name of the square too literally )

Even the font used looks old school.

I am yet to see a satisfactory proposal.

I agree with all the previous posts regarding this proposal. Would be nice to see some renders in colour and slightly larger format though.

The structure in the middle needs to be substantially higher IMO.. I believe that a tall structure in the middle of Victoria Square would be a great symbol of moving forward and would reflect well on the city's progression.

But in all seriousness, i would love to see a tower type structure in the middle of the square.... its just that i dont trust the ACC to get this right, because if its too short with an observation deck, it will become a national joke.... also, its shouldnt resemble a radio mast or a poor mans Eiffel Tower...

Where is KWS traffic going to go in that - cant be underground and would be bottlenecks everywhere diverting around the square.

I would like a tower to straddle KWS (with the tramline) with grote/Wakefield underground as seen. Take out the diagonal roads as well as the small ones around the edge of the square with Franklin/Flinders and Gouger/Angas running through as they do now. Wakefield lowered and KWS raised to reduce the ramp inclination on Wakefield going under the square.

That way there would be substantially more parkland area to develop as an attractive place in the process. Yes, the tower needs to be higher (with a restuarant) and less reminiscent of the Eiffel tower.

I rather like the "Victorian' appearance. Strange that.

Victoria Square is such a sick joke that I cannot bear it any more.

The council will do nothing. The previous Mayor wanted an underpass between Wakefieled and Grote (great idea) and was voted out for his evil vision.

The Government will do nothing and will not fund the required changes. So the square will remain a traffic roundabout and eyesore for as long as I live.

There has been 30 years of debate and no action. Let's just accept that Victoria Square, like the Victoria Roundabout (must be a jinx in the name) are too hard for any government or council to tackle. Why? I am not sure - but history is on my side.
