Re: Krispy Kreme donuts in Adelaide
Here's a trip down memory lane - the best donuts I can recall were the fresh hot cinnamon ones from Castle Plaza back in the days of the Arrow Supermarket and the Redapple Restaurant. For hours I'd just stare at the machine plopping out lumps of dough into the hot oil, then travelling along the conveyor belt and into the rotating tray of cinnamon and sugar.pushbutton wrote:I tried one last year when someone at work brought some over from Melbourne. I could not see what all the fuss was about. I prefer the new range of donuts at Donut King, or (much better still) a freshly made one from donut king with just a little bit of cinnamon / sugar on, served hot and fresh!
Even then it's an unhealthy, occasional treat but not something I'd want to have regularly.

So true. I'm happy we don't have this Americanism in our city. There are far better local donuts around.pushbutton wrote:I tried one last year when someone at work brought some over from Melbourne. if fat were the only problem, i'd give them a go
i'm not that keen on eating petrochemicals though

Nonsense! Petrochemicals are friends to all. I've never met a petrochemical I didn't like.ricecrackers wrote:Wayno wrote:can't believe how popular KK donuts are - You can almost see a persons arteries getting harder while eating one!

I heard on the radio this morning that Krispy Kremes are coming to Adelaide and opening in October. I missed the location. Did anyone else here this?

KK doughnuts taste like poo. I for one am not joining the viral marketing bandwagon they creating with the "you can't come" marketing method (as illustrated in Southpark when Cartman buys a theme park).

KK in Adelaide is not happening. I recieved this confirmation today
"Good Morning,
We have received numerous enquiries this week in regards to this. As previously advised, we do not have any plans to open a store in Adelaide at the moment.
Kind Regards,
Leah Little"

wow, i never understood the obsession with krispy kremes! There is nothing all that special about them imo
Gourmet Glaze however, are amazing. We always make sure that overseas visitors get to try some, and they all love it.
i'm proud of the fact that we don't need to be a bunch of sheep on the KK bandwagon, because we have something far better that is exlusively South Australian.
