Modifications taken out at Preston have included the removal of all signage associated with MetroLigero as well as Alstom-related wording; however the Blue, White and Red livery is likely to remain with the Amigos in Adelaide in the short term at least.

Surely to keep with the SA coloured livery, all you'd need to do would be to paint those small white stripes yellow, then Bob's your uncle, the tram for all South Australians.

Friend Trevor and I headed out in the 39+ degree heat to meet the Citadis in the small town of Coomandook (~140k's from Adelaide).

From there to Mount Barker it was a matter of pull over, take a shot, back into the car then dash after the tram. On the flat it travels at full highway speeds but in the hills it's much more docile and easy to overtake.

Off-loading is at the depot tonight around 1am.

Thanks Briggzy - if you look at the seventh shot, you'll see two trucks & trailers were involved.
One trailer had a three-module section, the other carried two modules.
Once joined, making up a five-module vehicle, this will be the first of the six trams.

I really hope they don't repaint them that ugly 80's style red, yellow and blue Adelaide rail colour... Its time for a change of design. We should adopt that colour scheme.

Thanks Bill. I was looking at the photos in a minimised browser, so I missed that half of the photo . I was wondering how it would work with half a tram like that going down king will.

In comparison with pictures of the flexity classes, the citadis look bigger (length and width wise), I guess that's why they the standing capacity is larger.

I remember thinking "eww yuk" when the red, yellow and blue colours started appearing earlier this decade (can't remember exactly when). Just add a bit of green, and it would look like something from Play School. I agree - the Madrid style looks much better. Less 'tacky'.

They have spent the last 10 years working towards having a consistent style across thier fleet of busses and rail, and now you want to change it? By having the same colors they can present a unified brand, when visitors come to Adelaide and even locals unfamiliar to public transport they know that when they see those colors they can use a metroticket.

I suspect that the reason the new trams have been left in the original colour scheme for now is more about propaganda than anything. I mean most people would not have been able to tell the new trams apart from the Flexi's if they were in the same colour scheme. This way, everytime someone sees one of the new trams pass by, they will know that its one of the new 'you beaut' ones.... just in time for the election

The colour scheme for ADL Metro could be worse. Having a reasonably good colour scheme which is consistent across every vehicle is quite an achievement.

That said, the bright crimson used for Metro Ligero certainly is sexier. One option for current vehicles could be to repaint in a couple of shades darker when they go for their regular paint touch-up.

Not too flashy and gaudy, not tacky, a good colour combination and handles weathering well - a very distinctive comibination. Consistency of colours across the lot impt. :2cents.
