End of a year AND a decade!

#1 Post by The Scooter Guy » Sat Dec 12, 2009 4:11 pm

Wow, that's been short. Almost 10 years since Y2K glitch and almost nine since 9/11/01. 2009 has went quickly too. Has been a dark year for some people like me.
So what have the greatest things about 2009 been for you?

Oooh ahhh... well actually no.

This Century started on the 1st of Jan, 2001 and will end on the 31st of Dec, 2100. But decades follow units of ten. As in 1970 to 1979, or 2000 to 2009.

Reason being that for a century there was no "year zero" (it goes from 1BC to 1AD). But there's a "zero year" for decades (2000, 1950... etc)

Note, however, that any sequence of ten years can be a decade, but when people speak of the decade they are usually refering to something like "the '70s" or "the noughties".

:D

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone.

It has been a good year for me and hope it will continue to stay that way moving forward.

My top 5 predictions for 2010 are:
1. Return of SA-FM's Sky Show
2. End of 'Branson's Earth Challenge' (8th February)
3. A trip to Vancouver on a plane (my 1st international trip)
4. My 3rd trip to Queensland (on a plane this time)
5. A trip to Darwin on the Ghan on my 20th Birthday (as I was born here!)
