Making a point about Adelaide's skyline

HERE'S what the world's tallest building would look like in the Adelaide CBD.

The Burj Dubai, at 828m, would be more than six times taller than Adelaide's 135m Westpac building.

If the Burj were built in the spot depicted in this computer-generated image by Norwood graphic designer Mat Hede, of Take Heed Design, it would be about 878m above sea level.

This means standing at the Mt Lofty Summit obelisk, which is 710m above sea level, the Burj would be another 168m into the air.

WHAT LANDMARKS WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE REPLICATED IN ADELAIDE? Have your say in the poll to the right of this page and in the comment box below.

Mr Hede said he wanted to create a local comparison after seeing the Burj dropped into other cities around the world.

"It's pretty funny in terms of scale, and I thought it would be an interesting image," Mr Hede said of the design that took him just minutes to create.

If there were a Burj Adelaide, Mr Hede suggested building it in Victoria Square. "I've had some interesting comments - someone suggested you could put a flying fox on it - but I don't think Adelaide's really cut out for that size of building."
At least if they built something this big it would be easy for aircraft to navigate around it.

but what about the shadowing on the 2 storey residential terraces off Hutt St! might need to install large mirrors on poles at strategic points around the city to counter the impact...
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

HA! HA! I would see it from my house! If I was on the top of the building, I would see the entire state! :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.
