Foodland pleases me, especially the dear little one in Glenelg South.

It is also my understanding that Foodland Munno Para is the biggest supermarket in Australia, or at least it was when it was last extended. Not sure if it still is. It's pretty small though compared to the supermarkets I'm used to in the UK!
Of course, Munno Para Shopping City is not a Westfield Centre so it's not really relevant to the debate about Foodland and Westfield. If on the other hand we were only talking about whether there are Foodlands in ANY malls, well there's quite a lot of them!

It is a great place Marion Centre even though I live closer to the City,Norwood Parade,Burnside Village and Tea Tree Plaza.
I have been to Singapore many times over the years and this is as good as the Malls that exist along Orchard Road and Surrounds over there If Not Better.

Why is this one not marked as on hold? It seems pretty unlikely to go ahead in the foreseeable future...

Apparently this is 2-3 years away from happening. Westfield wants to do it right now, but Lend Lease has a 50% stake and are not as keen to commit at the moment.
Oh and Greater Union cinemas has changed to Event Cinemas? And Dymocks has closed down.

Stupid lend lease... Westfield is great company, I'd trust almost anything they'd want to do.

It appears to be in the process of being gradually refurbished into another book store (which is already trading during the refurbishment) under the new name "The Book Boys".

Nah mate, that's a temporary lease set up by Dymocks to sell off their remaining stock cheap. Once the stock is gone, the hoardings will go up and the new tennancy will be constructed.pushbutton wrote:It appears to be in the process of being gradually refurbished into another book store (which is already trading during the refurbishment) under the new name "The Book Boys".

What happened is that the owner of dymocks surrendered his lease, basically he vactated his shop whilst still having a contract. He just left the shop. He also owned Glenelg, which I am lead to believe also has closed down. So Westfield have to find a tenant for the shop quick smart. What I am hearing is that at first it was going to be a clothing store, but Angus & Roberston have put in a bid for the tenancy as well. So it could be a bit drawn out process as they deciede who gets the shop.

I'm pretty sure Angus and Robertson also own Borders book stores, so given that Marion already has one Agnus and Robertson it could potentially end up as Borders perhaps.
If that is the case then the current operator known as the book boys may be just a temp tenant selling off some of Dymocks surplus stock in the meantime, until Angus & Robertson / Borders or whoever signs a new lease.

I didn't believe that when I read it, so I looked it up. You learn something new every day.pushbutton wrote:I'm pretty sure Angus and Robertson also own Borders book stores
