School constructions as part of the federal government's stimulus plan absorbing much of the available workforce being a case in point.AG wrote:The new Engineering Building in Adelaide Uni started in January 2008 and won't be completed until mid-2010, and that's only 8 levels. A fast build, a quality build or a low cost build. Pick any two.

It sure is, my school, urrbrae hs, is currently getting a new building built, with another one Approved, as well as one to demolish, and its all apparently to be finished in july/augustPrince George wrote:School constructions as part of the federal government's stimulus plan absorbing much of the available workforce being a case in point.AG wrote:The new Engineering Building in Adelaide Uni started in January 2008 and won't be completed until mid-2010, and that's only 8 levels. Just went past the site before. Excavation has occurred incredible quickly, a massive amount of earth has already been removed.

Thanks Professor. I'd say it's safe to call this one UC now.

Crane base on site now

There should end up being two cranes on this job. Good to see the first is not far off!
[COM] Re: Yorke Campus |#UC Police HQ |#APP 2 resi towers | 38m 10lvl
Had a look at the crane base, and it's not a Favco. Could either be a Liebherr or a Potain crane. And my guess is it may be a hammerhead crane.
Potain Hammerhead
Liebherr Hammerhead
Potain Hammerhead
Liebherr Hammerhead

I think I might have mentioned some time ago that hammerheads were very common in the east - only in more recent times coming into Adelaide. We have mainly seen Favcos.
The crane total must be shifting up again - encouraging!. Top level was 9 last year. I've lost track of the NEAR FUTURE total including this.

There is currently a MASSIVE concrete pour happening on site right now. Four pumps being used at once, it's quite an impressive site!

If you think we're going to get up to 9 cranes again sometime soon your dreaming.
There's 3 now plus two here makes 5.
Where are all the others going to come from.

We'll probabaly get to 9 cranes again next year. There is no need for such negativity.ghs wrote:skyliner wrote:I think I might have mentioned some time ago that hammerheads were very common in the east - only in more recent times coming into Adelaide. We have mainly seen Favcos.

Consider that these 5 cranes are at the initial stages of each respective development, I would assume based on previous experience that they'll be around for a few more months. In that time, we should get cranes up on the new 15 level public housing development on Waymouth Street, the 13 level office block on Light Square, the new health and research institute and the 10 level residential development at 302-306 Waymouth Street. There could even be more developments which surprise us.

GHS - what Will said. Study what is happening in the bigger picture as well as the present. Go have a look at the bldg and construction map on this site against time and finance availability and trends. Secondly, I never even inferred that there would be 9 in the near future. Sorry if I did - my fault for vagueness of expression if this could not be perceived - but now that we are considering this - why not?ghs wrote:skyliner wrote:I think I might have mentioned some time ago that hammerheads were very common in the east - only in more recent times coming into Adelaide. Its not such an outrageous dream to see 9 or even more cranes here in the not too distant future at all.
