Def a second crane on the way. The bit that the top bit sits on was sitting next to the site today and the second bit has grown to same height as the original crane. sorry about my lack of technical talk, I don't know what they are called but good news I guess nevertheless.

Adelaide CBD development seems to be picking up again after the GFC - the latest news about this site testifies to this. Great to see/hear guys.

These residential developments in the city are particularly good since they increase the vibrancy of the city
at night time. The Adelaide CBD is busy during the day but then its dead during the week at night time.

Well Rundle St was pretty busy tonight. Too bad the shops start shutting at 5 - wouldn't hurt to try until 7.

Rundle Street was throbbing tonight.

Some of the shops on Rundle street were open past 7 tonight. The ones that have found it worth staying open have done so. Others who have tried it have started closing earlier. I was surprised that Felici aren't going later with the Garden opening tonight. They had a dozen or so people still asking for coffee after they had shut down the machine at 7ish. Cibo were going strong.

Places do try to open later, but often find it not worth it in the long run.

Edit: Splashmo - you made me go off topic.. again! lol

Haha sorry. I think not just the shops in Rundle St but those in Rundle Mall could also stay open a little later. Either way, developments like this one certainly do help Adelaide along.

Those cranes working so close together would be an interesting sight.

But I do find it bizzare. Typically they go for the expense of a second crane to shorten build time. If time was so important I wonder why this site spent so long as an empty pit.

I had a look today - it is a concrete pump on the second tower.

These two buildings need to be finished (as in able to be occupied) within 11 months. Tough call. We may see 6 cranes just to get it done in time for the 2011 intake. (sarcasm) but seriously this one will shoot up.

NOTE to bold section - MANY bldgs in Brisbane have cranes as close as this. One has 5. It is entirely possible to work several cranes close together. As someone has said, it is a tradeoff of costs/time of construction.

BTW - Thanks for that photo professor.

That's interesting. I've never seen that before on a construction site.

20 Hindmarsh Square had at least two concrete pumps. They were just less conspicuous.
