Went along the line today.
Overhead is strung up over most of the line, but not fixed in final position or tensioned fully.
Overhead and concreting still to be done at the Southwark Bridge.
Overhead started at the ent cent.
Still plenty of work to go on the stops.
Maybe, perhaps possibly might see some trams doing testing in a couple of weeks. (But not putting $$ on it).
Plenty of work still to be done on final fixing of overhead, street lights and feeders.

Apparently the testing of trams on the new extension will now not take place this weekend due to track and overhead not being completed in time.More likely to be middle of next week.

I agree that it might be possible to run trams to the entercentre in a physical sense mid next week. (I could not see it happening this weekend given that on Thursday they still had some concreting of track to do, and unless they used quick setting concrete a few days curing might be a good idea).
However, that would mean running trams while still building the stops. Possibly not the best OH&S scenario imo. (A workplace accident in the next week or two might make a Garrett out of our Mike if it was seen that the work was accelerated to work into an electoral time frame).
However, physically speaking, maybe they could start test running to West Terrace without too much bother if that stop were complete.

Not often do I take photos of Adelaide construction sites, but here are photos from the 17/02:
Some concrete works taking place on the Port Road bridge over the rail lines:
Still muchly a large dump site at the former water depot in Thebarton:
Port Road/George Street/James Congdon Road:
Light Terrace stop:
Bonython Park stop was MIA when I took this, but not any more:
Repaving the third lane which looks almost done:
There is still a lot of work to do in widening the Southwark Bridge and approach to the Park Terrace intersection:
I noticed at some of the intersections some motorists are getting confused amongst the jungle of temporary, disused and strangely placed traffic signals such as here at Port Road and Adam Street:
Glass being erected on the Entertainment Centre stop:

Why dont they create a road from Port Rd [opp. the gaol] through the old SA Water depot site to come out opp. Ice Arena - would help traffic flow.
Also the future tram route to train/Clipsal site etc is still unclear - wouldnt it be easier to plan ahead now. Seems with the work being done, like roadwork for park&ride, tram canopies etc they could be creating things that will have to be removed [incl. the flagpole I am sure]. Where does forum think tram will join?

I haven't heard anything about a tram into the Clipsal site, do you have more information? It seems unlikely as the plan is for potentially an underground train station at the TOD that will be build there. With the train going through the site directly into the CBD, and the entertainment center tram stop only a few hundred meters away I can't imagine anyway thinking it worth branching the tram track out to it.Also the future tram route to train/Clipsal site etc is still unclear - wouldnt it be easier to plan ahead now. The current preferred site plan for the Bowden Village has the tram line going up Drayton and Gibson Streets, to join up with the train line.
