To both councillor's, just wondering if the ACC has any thoughts about zebra crossings in the city. Ive mentioned this before but our CBD can be very unpedestrian friendly sometimes due to the large amount of retards in pretend 4WD's, that dont give way to pedestrians (when they should). Other city centres feel much more safer to walk around due to the zebra crossings where drivers know they have to stop and give way. Also, is this solely the responsibility of DTEI/Transport SA or can the ACC apply for zebra crossings

I don't know of any research to back this up, but I tend to think that drivers take more notice of, and are more respectful towards, zebra crossings as well as coloured bike and bus lanes. I would like to see more of them (as well as more consistent penalties for drivers who violate them). Then we might all be safer.

I've noticed this also, some motorists seem to invade marked bus lanes a lot. But the brown coloured ones seem to keep more at bay.

I'd like to add that it isn't just the idiots in the pseudo 4WDs, but also (probably the same idiots walking to their cars) who cross at pedestrian crossings before the light goes green.

AND, while I'm on a rant roll, why do people insist on entering blocked intersections and then look sheepish when they find themselves stuck in the middle of the intersection being honked at by traffic trying to go the other way when the lights change?

People. If they just stopped trying to get there faster, everyone would get where they are going sooner and in some cases not dead.

Hi All,

You will be pleased to know there were 2 good results at the fringe awards last night.

Format Festival (who are doing the renew Adelaide work) won an award and so did Arcade lane – they activated a laneway in need of some love.

I’m a big supporter of both so looks like some exciting opportunities to amplify are underway – I’m chasing funding for Renew and Laneways in the 10/11 budget.

In David's latest notes above The Council voted to accept the last plan for the "Urban Forest" on the former SA Water site. However I've heard scuttlebutt talk this weekend that the site's now being purposed by the Government as a park and ride for the tram extension. Is this just silly rumours or is there any fact to it?

Just thought I'd commit forum heresy and repost a question that was buried on the previous page. I'd like to know if this is shenanigans or the truth. I haven't found anything in the media about it as yet.

I have been wanting to have a whinge about something for months now, and seeing that nothing has been done about it, I would like to communicate my complaint to Councillors Yarwood and Plumbridge who visit this thread.

The palm trees on Morphett Street between Currie Street and North Terrace desperately need maintenance!

Can the ACC please get someone to remove all the dead leaves on these trees. And whilst we are discussing these trees, can the ACC investigate the possibility of installing a lighting feature similar to the ones installed on the upper trunk of the palm trees at the end of Jetty Road at Glenelg? Such an initiative wouldn't cost that much, and yet, would enhance the attractiveness of the Hindley Street precinct.

As for the rumour of a park and ride – have not heard this and in fact I have recently seen the detailed plans for the urban forest so would have to suggest this is not true.

I have noticed that the webcam at the Skate Park on your Website(Council) has been out of action for a long time(picture is frozen and out of focus).
Perhaps you might be able to speak to someone who is responsible to have something done asap to have the problem fixed.It is a very useful site as it has webcams at many locations,particularly King William Street and Victoria Square and I'm sure from a tourist point of view Local,Interstate and Overseas it would be well patronised.

For the life of me I cannot picture any palm trees in that area. Are they all over the place, meaning I've been walking around with my eyes shut for years?

I see a proposal to turn that piece of asphalt called a Upark in Sturt St with a low cost housing project with 180 units, piazza and community garden. Good news. This is in between K W st and Morphett. Im not going to paste the article from The Messenger into here caus the article is a load of shit, claiming that it will turn the area into a slum and complaints about the loss of a carpark
