So is it 17 + 3 = 20 level building, or 3 levels of carpark underground + 17 levels?

My question also. Must be a big footprint. Is this bldg on the SE or SW corner of Bentham and Franklin? (forgotten)

I would say that the car park is underground as the original plan had this.

What happened to Towers 3 - 7 ?

For those who want to know, this will consolidate two of the ATO's three Adelaide sites of City Central (1) and Rundle Mall.

I made the mistake of looking at the Adelaide Now comments and i forgot how negative and frustrating people are on there.
This building will be a welcome change to the currently empty block.

Certainly a bitter sweet moment - good to see something will be built but cant help but think it's US paying for it!
Good to see the ATO is being extra frugal with our hard earned dollars with a modest property & fitout - not.
For what they will pay in rent & fitout the ATO [ie US] could be buying the property itself - at least we get the benefit/capital gain one day.

Ummm - no, Norman, it is going to consolidate all three of the current Adelaide sites, including staff currently at 91 Waymouth (the largest site). I work in the ATO (City Central, where we have two floors), and we all received an email about this yesterday morning. What isn't yet clear, though, is whether we are going to be the sole tenants, because it seems to me that Tower 8 is more than enough to fit in our existing staff. I seem to remember a proposal that Australia Post were going to move the mail exchange from Gouger St to Tower 8, has anyone any more info on this?

There was also an article in today's AFR that hinted the rent on this will be well above Adelaide's average.

My mistake, I misread the email. The property plan made it seem like they would have 2 main sites.

Dont worry about them. Most of them are just 12yo kids that like trolling and pissing people off by posting things like "yuck i hate tall buildings"
If you look on the other articles, you'll see that people post negative stuff merely because its The Advertiser

Saw in the AFR yesterday that is is advertised as Adelaide's biggest office project ever (P43) and that it would cost $200m. Bigger than the old Santos bldg in floor area? - certainly not height. the way it was presented it infered that the 17 floors of the project was the biggest office block in height. 3000 employees will be in this one - imagine what that will do to cafes etc in the area and mabe VSQ tramstop.

I have a feeling that they may have to push the height up 10 or so meters... my Bunyan is aching

I'd hope not.

ANZ Tower (City Central 1) is 84m tall, It looks terrible as it us as a chunky and largely uninspiring glass box. For this tower to rise another ten metres would essentially duplicate CC1's image and give us two chunky uninspiring glass boxes. I'd rather there be some difference in height, which would do more to highlight the differences visually between the two towers than to create a monotonous image of the City Central precinct. The least we can ask for is some degree of variation.

I agree with Swordsedge.

Therefore, this building should be another 100 metres taller. :P
