Ah, thanks AtD. I made the mistake of searching for "West Terrace" rather than "Gilbert Street", so those posts were lost amongst the ones for CMI.

Went past the former Sofa Shop building today and it's now being gutted!
Was a temporary Prime Liquidators before moving to the Liqorland building, also being gutted!
And BTW, look what I found on YouTube:

From the Advertiser:
New showroom drives CMI future
Alexandra Economou
From: The Advertiser March 30, 2010 5:00PM
SOUTH Australian family-owned company CMV Group last night celebrated the opening of its $20 million CMI Toyota showroom in the city.
About 500 guests attended the launch of the ultra-modern glass building on West Tce, which includes a 33-car service centre. The massive, four-storey structure took 20 months to build.
CMV Group joint managing director Paul Crawford said the investment in the showroom highlighted the company's confidence in SA's economy.
"We are proudly a South Australian company and CMI is part of our overall company," Mr Crawford said.
"This (showroom) is a statement which really sets us up and sets a benchmark for our operations for the next 30 years."
Mr Crawford said making the decision to build a new showroom was easy because the old showroom was "inadequate".
"As Toyota grew into a leading franchise in Australia, we wanted to make a statement in our confidence in the future of Toyota," he said.
Officially opening the showroom, Toyota Australia president Max Yasuda praised CMI for its "vision and courage".
Re: CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise
Would have to be one of the most impressive car showrooms in the country!
Re: CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise
The best (worst?) thing about this new showroom is that it appears to have 3 permanent 'aircraft warning' lights flashing on its roof at night. Not what you expect on a 4 storey structure, even if is on West Terrace and presumably in line of sight to the airport.
Happy to see West Terrace being turned into a wall of glass showrooms - much better than open air car yards and assorted run-down old buildings!

Hi folks,
Was that cafe opposite the Rundle Lantern completed? If so, how is it, what is the patronage like, and can anyone who works in the area get a few quick photos for me?
Thanks in advance.

It was completed a few months ago and looks very similar to the cafe on the opposite end of Rundle Mall. I work in the citi-centre building and have a good view of it through the day and they seem to have a steady flow of customers. A lot of work colleagues who get their 'coffee and cakes' speak pretty high about the quality. I'll try and grab a snap on the phone tomorrow bud.Matt wrote:Hi folks,

They seem to close earlier than Buskers were required to. They're shutting shop at about 5:30 most evenings I've noticed.Briggzy_03 wrote:It was completed a few months ago and looks very similar to the cafe on the opposite end of Rundle Mall.
