Pic from yesterday - was too busy inside to see much more, but entrance looks better with the signage & fruit panels.
It is basically a Woolies supermarket on 2 levels. Will be better when new stores open.

Yeah I went in yesterday too, and despite the crowds, it was a quick and easy exercise. Really nice store.

And according to one of the employees, "some clothes stores" will be opening either side.

They have 16 self service checkouts.

Get in, get out quickly during your lunchbreak = win!

the reopening created 100 open jobs for teens. Almost 5,000 applied lol

It didn't create anything that the closing down earlier destroyed...

It would have more than 100 people working there, it's a pretty busy store. I'd imagine a lot of the vacancies were caused by reallocated staff staying in the stores they were moved to, and the rest by optimistic projections of sales increases.

The crowds tonight were insane!, definitely demand for a third supermarket in the city.

The layout is okay I guess, just happy that Woolies has finally reopened.

It looks nice, BUT- the travelator to go down to the lower level starts outside the store, and the up one (obviously) ends inside it. What happens when you pop in for some biscuits (upper level) and suddenly realise you need something from the lower level?

I went to the Woolworths Rundle Mall store last week on Thursday it was pretty busy, i am impressed with the refurbishment, it has a great layout and more checkouts then before. Although i did not buy anything i am glad to see it reopened, i no longer have to go to Coles in Chinatown. Woolworths the Fresh Food People. But then again i wont be entirely happy until i see a Foodland open up in the City as they have a good range of local products, the mighty south aussies yeah!

no offence straze but when you have the central markets to get fresh fruit and vig from why on earth would you go to Woolies!

Fresh Food people for packaged and other house hold goods but not for fruit and veg thats for sure!!

There's 3 or so IGAs in the City. Close enough to Foodland.

No capitalist I am not offended. I live in the Elizabeth area so if I want fruit and veg I would much rather go up the road to Angle Vale and get them at wholesale prices, also it saves me time and money. When it comes to items such as cereal, milk, other dairy products and small grocery items I go to a supermarket such as Woolworths, Foodland or Coles. "Woolworths the Fresh Food people" was meant as a cheerful comment not to be taken seriously. Coles is very rare though because a while ago on a Friday night I bought a Paris Creek flavoured milk from Chinatown that was reduced, when I opened it on the bus home I noticed it was off, thats what annoyed me.

I have browsed at IGA stores in the City but found they werent very affordable at all. If I am in the City I would much rather go up to O'Connell Street to Romeos Foodland which has good prices and many local products, like Murray Valley milk and FC Grubb (from Gladstone) soft drinks.

as a fruit supplier to various supermarkets, Coles, Woolies, Foodland and IGA all get the same quality as ya local green grocer if they all buy first grade fruit, it's what they do with it afterwards is what makes the differance.
The stuff that goes to the central market is quite often the worst we have but it is cheap, but if it's handled well and sold for a price is worth it. Thats not saying everything at the Central Market is dodgy, far from it but if y whoa know what ya looking at ya can get some real decent bargains.
Best thing is to find a shop that cares and has good turnover whoever it is, and if it's an independant than thats all the better.
