Mr Demetriou last night confirmed more money was to be made by the Crows and Power at Adelaide Oval than at AAMI Stadium.

I'm wondering how he knows that, especially in Port's case. I'm a Port member, by the way.

As far as I have heard, the new stadium deals with both clubs will be much more fair. Crows and Port rank 15th and 16th respectively in terms of stadium returns and so hopefully with a stadium that will be used year-round, there will be a better deal for both clubs.

ffs if ya gonna build such a crap roof why build it at all? AFL is played during the winter, it rains in winter so why build a room with huge gaps in it that doesn't even cover the lower seats? How about a bit of practicality in the design ffs.

Just had a look at the hard copy Advertiser... no red brick as I suggested before. Exterior of the new Bradman Stand looks fantastic though with a few interesting (not groundbreaking or new, but really nice and unexpected) design elements thrown for good measure. By the looks of it the exterior will be uniform along the new eastern stands

Also downsizing to keep costs low is not exactly what I want to hear. If it comes to paying more for quality, THEN DO IT. Don't give us a half arsed attempt just to save Mike Rann's "credibility".

Also, my support waivers particularly in the area of capacity. What's the point of having a better located ground and seemingly better ground than AAMI if there are less seats??

I am sick of this penis envy debate regarding a roof. Just because Melbourne has a roofed stadium does not mean we need to have one. Indeed, people will respect us more if we forge our own path instead of trying to be a clone of Melbourne. Realistically, how many games are affected by rain in Adelaide? I suspect far less than Melbounre. Indeed, for all those advocating a roof have you ever thought that the reason why there is a roofed stadium in Melbourne is because the weather over there is always winterry?

We do not need a roofed stadium. We do not need a stadium for every sport. The future is in mixed-use venues.

Not having the footbridge undercover is a big mistake - most games played in winter + no umbrellas allowed into ground = your going to get very wet.

Prefer this one to the previous design. In the previous design each stand seemed to be making it's own statement - there was a lack of integration.

Will be interested to see what ultimately happens at the northern end. Now that the heritage battle is effectively over, not hard to forsee that in a few years there will be an argument mounted that the job needs to be 'completed' with a northern stand to syncronise with the southern stand. After all in 10 years our popluation is likley to be another 150-200,000 people.

That's unfortunate. It actually kind of makes me angry. Red brick and the Hill are what makes Adelaide Oval, well, Adelaide Oval. I've got nothing against building new stands, but surely there ought to be some attempt at harmonising the new with the old.

I couldn't give two shits what Melbourne has, in fact i think Etihad is a crap stadium and would hate it if we built a copy of it here in Adelaide.
Why don't ya ask Port Adelaide fans how many games get affected by rain, it seemed like every second game last season for them it was wet.

It's 2010, ticket prices for games are near enough to $30, for that i expect a decent level of comfort and protection from the weather. It's not bloody penis envy for wanting a roof it's common bloody sense, if ya gonna do something it might as well be built properly or it won't make a differance to the crowds in bad weather.

Gotta say, it's pretty impressive.

Wonder if those calling for a roof appreciate that footy's an outdoor sport, or if not, appreciate that:

- a roof's never going to be built over Adelaide Oval; and
- cricket's never going to move away from Adelaide Oval to a multi-purpose stadium with a roof; and
- without SACA and the AFL in bed together, we get nothing but the western grandstand at Adelaide Oval and, possibly, the revival of those quarter-arsed plans to bring AAMI Stadium back from the brink.

We can't pull cash from our arses kids!

when i'm talking about a roof i'm not talking about it over the pitch, i want the stands covered with a roof that doesn't have big gaps in it and comes in to or almost to the edge of the pitch so that the patrons are for the most part sheltered.
The idea of covering the whole oval with a roof is rediculous.

This could possibly go down as Ranns 60's style,"Dunny Seat Memorial Oval". I can't believe they want to spend half a billion dollars and this is best they can come up with??? Its no wonder why the rest of Australia keeps laughing at little old short sighted Adelaide. 50,000 seat stadium in a city with a population that according to Ranns own 30 year Plan is set to grow. WHAT A JOKE..
