I was up in Qld over the past week surrounded by the lovely tall buildings. Its just amazing to see the different approach to things.
On one trip out I went past the site of the new Gold Coast University Hospital project. I have never seen so many cranes in one place. It looked like about 10 cranes all for one project.
These were so tall that I could see them from my balcony in Surfers Paradise.
I decided to compare a few stats with our new hospital in Adelaide.
Gold Coast University Hospital
Cost $1.76 billion
Beds: 750
Announced: 2008
Construction Start: 2008
Construction End: 2012
Total Construction Time: 4 years
Project Start To Finish: 4 years
Adelaide Hospital
Cost $1.7 billion
Beds: 800
Announced: 2007
Construction Start: 2011
Construction End: 2016
Total Construction Time: 5 years
Project Start To Finish: 9 years
Am I wrong with any of these numbers? They will be finished building theirs before we stop complaining about the colors of the curtains.

Re: Gold Coast University Hospital
Do remember that we have to first build a new depot for the trains, and that's going to be done by the end of the year hopefully. Then the site will have to be remediated from all the diesel and THEN construction can begin. It's not that easy to compare.
