COM: Northern Expressway | 22km

I would love it if it was a typo.
Just don't tell Rann so he can follow the signs.

Went for a trip up there last night just to see it with my own eyes... apparently Heaslip road leads "to M31". Surely it's gotta be a mistake. I can understand M20 leading to M31 (albeit 950kms and two states later on), but Heaslip Rd? Epic fail.
Must head out there again soon with a camera to get a photo.

I wouldn't worry about what ScooterGuy posted, I think he somehow got hold of the wrong end of a completely different stick there. Perhaps he didn't understand your question and thought it was off topic?mrsmooth81 wrote:unlikely i'd say...capitalist wrote:i think mrssmooth is owed an apology then.....
I believe you, but I'd like to see a picture all the same, just for curiosity's sake.

So I had to head out north today for work and drove over the northern expressway on curtis rd (I think it was) and the signs definitely said M20. Weird then if it says M31 at heaslip road.

These signs do look similar to Southern Expressway's!
Does this mean that the Northern Xpressway is reversable?!

Thanks for the pics Smoothy. This is only speculation, but if you head in that direction, through Gawler to Lyndoch, there's a B31 which runs south down to Chain of ponds. Are they upgrading this to a "M" status? (I've not been on that road in centuries, but I don't remember it being particularly wide).

No, These signs clearly say "Northern" on them. The word Southern looks nothing like the word Northern. The Scooter Guy wrote:These signs do look similar to Southern Expressway's!

What the f*ck?
I'm also suprised that the National Highway shield is still being used, despite the National Highway system becoming defunct in 2004.

Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Guys, lighten up! I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest he's refering to the fact the signs are changeable, and currently say "CLOSED" - something which is indeed apparent on the Southern Expressway. Also sounds like a bit of sarcasm thrown in.
As to the "TO National M31" - I've twigged as to why it says that on Heaslip Road. If the M20 is closed (which is the case here), it suggests traffic should detour via Angle Vale and get back on at the Gawler bypass. My bet is that once the signs change and no longer say "CLOSED", the "TO National M31" will appear on the Northern Expressway sign instead.
Time will tell I guess. If that's indeed the case, I wouldn't be surprised to see another "TO M31" at the roundabout in Angle Vale.
