As usual, SE South Aust misses out again - years now since anything seen of significance re SA gov't policies there. (Like the SE does not even belong to or contribute anything of worth to the state). Yet stats show it would likely be the most productive area of the state.

Rann said a significant proportion of the 100,000 extra jobs he promised to create over six years will be in defence work, including more than 3000 for the $8 billion air warfare destroyer contract won by ASC.
April 14th 2010
A restructure at leading Australian submarine and shipbuilder ASC will cost jobs, the company says.
Considering that Rann and Foley sit at the top of DefenceSA’s corporate structure, they must have had some idea of the restructure. So Rann, as usual, was lying in his statements before the election.

New ASC CEO Steve Ludlum (ex Rolls Royce) is expected to detail the job losses shortly. The good news - it seems few jobs will actually be lost (my guestimate). Small scale restructuring & admin job amalgamation (which is the case here) is a no-brainer, and is appreciated by us taxpayers who are funding this rather expensive DoD venture.stumpjumper wrote:March 7th 2010

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

so far they seem to be sticking to their word bar the Victor Harbour overpass as well as the hospital, however that is linked the research buiding which is being help up.
I'm interested to see what happens with the AO and riverbank redevlopment, how much time is allowed, if we get to the next election and nothing has happened is it a broken promise or a WIP? I guess the same is said for the hospital

epic fail so far for there election promise.South Australia was the worst performer nationally, with its jobless rate up 0.3 per cent from July's 5.1 per cent rate to 5.4 per cent.
Re: #Official : ALP election promises thread (2010)
What an overreaction. It is just a 0.3% rise.capitalist wrote:http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/business/ ... 5916360058

Why didn't you post something last month when SA was the best performer?
Re: #Official : ALP election promises thread (2010)
I must have missed that one so that's probably why, i'll keep a close eye on it, but I reckon its going to be going the wrong way for a while yet.
in reality it was a stupid election promise anyway, its like the two clowns at a national level talking about keeping interest rates low

Re: #Official : ALP election promises thread (2010)
Uh, a low unemployment rate is considerably more important than a low interest rate.
Re: #Official : ALP election promises thread (2010)
true, but state govts don't have the massive impacts as feds.AtD wrote:Uh, a low unemployment rate is considerably more important than a low interest rate.

to avoid looking bias
there was a article about the state govt putting in $5m to get Flinders to set up a campus in Renmark or atleast upgrade the existing one to encourage more courses to be done there.
it also had some other works to be done to enhance the area from a commercial sense with the aim of 7000 more residence moving in.
that is fantastic news
