Been off-air for a little but may have some news on potential big name anchors for the development. I've been told to look out for floor plans with a big column-free space on or near the Rundle Mall frontage. If anyone has access to any, can you post it and I can confirm the name.

This is pure speculation and while it's a 'big name' it's not all that exciting, but I'm expecting there to be a Big W in this development. This might not tie in with the expected Coles, but still...

As far as I know:
- The only major tenant we know for sure is Harris Scarfe, who will occupy about half the first floor and the entire second floor.
- There is a major tenant space in the basement for a supermarket, but there has been no actual word on who it will be. We are only assuming it will be a Coles.
- Including a Big W would require major changes to the plans that were submitted to the ACC in 2008 (which is very possible) unless they are to take the supermarket space. I would also be surprised if Harris Scarfe allow this. As the anchor tenant they probably wouldn't stand for a major competitor in the same building.
- In the 2008 plans there is quite a large space on the ground floor under the Grenfell St car park which would be well suited to a major tenant. However it is marked as speciality retail.

I have just read the AGM release for Bendigo Adelaide Bank and they have announced that they are the major tenant for this project! just working on some details with the developer!!

Excellent news. It's a far better outcome than their original approval at Hindmarsh Square that's for sure.

BENDIGO and Adelaide Bank have identified the Harris Scarfe building on Grenfell Street as its preferred site to house the bank's 1000 Adelaide-based staff.
"Discussions with a developer will continue over the coming months in an effort to negotiate a suitable outcome for the bank and its Adelaide-based staff,'' chief executive Mike Hirst told shareholders at the bank's annual meeting in Adelaide.

The bank had scrapped plans to converge three separate sites into a $110 million green-friendly building on Hindmarsh Square earlier this year.

Owners of the Harris Scarfe building, Alteman (SA), have plans for a 19-storey office tower between Rundle Mall and Grenfell St at an estimate cost of $150 million.

The department store, which has occupied the same Grenfell Street site since 1877, the current building built in the 1920s, is expected to occupy the first four storeys.

Fantastic! Read about this in the AFR. Will go a long way to having the bldg actually built. Seems the bldg industry is picking up in Adelaide. I just read that we have not got much spare office space, even after the GFC (when compared to other capitals). This would call for more bldgs in an economic upturn such as we have now - esp. in the light that SA did better than what was expected.
