Bit over these Student accomodation proposals. Where are the normal apartment proposals.
This is the same developer as the 399 King William Street 15 level student apartment building - Tangcheng Holdings (Chinese Billionaire).
Type: Development Application Received
Application Number: DA/33/2011
Lodgement Date: 17/01/2011
Location: 260 Pulteney Street, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Demolish existing building and construct 15 level residential building - student accommodation.
Tiny site:

Strange proposal.
The site is insanely tiny, barely 5-6m wide, in an odd location, near the Yorke Commercial Campus development. Don't think it'll be as high as 50m - If it's a student apartments proposal, they'll probably be the size of shoeboxes with 2.4m ceilings.

Looking at that photo, are the buildings around it empty too? Maybe this development includes them?
At least it'll inject a bit of life to an otherwise quiet area.

Not to mention more height outside of the CBD core

jeez Id rather the new proposal anyday over a 1 storey shopfront and warehouse. I cringe at the amount of 1 level offices and showrooms we have in our city centre. It makes us look like a country town sometimes

260 Pulteney is 8.21m wide and 29.6m deep. Rear access available. Gunson Street.
The building to the left (blue one) was leased last year to Bella coffee so I don't think that is available. The one to the right is currently for lease though. This site went up to auction a little while ago and didn't sell, but then suddenly was sold in the 2-3 days before Christmas.
At 50m tall it's going to also be interesting to see how this causes issues with apartment sales for the Angas Street development at the old Rexel site. The east facing apartments were being sold with the idea of having a city view.

Unless all future development in a city is stopped you can hardly guarantee that everybody's views will remain the same forever.

Maybe so, if you assume that all the one-story doghouses around it are gonna be there forever.

Not really, it's right near the SA Police HQ and the Angas St proposal. Plus I'm sure there will be more developments in that area over the next 10 years or so

Nope, what you see is what you get there. This is being developed by the same guy that has plans for 399 King William too. Hames Sharley reckon they are going to get 24 units out of that but haven't seen plans yet..
In all there are 4 sites with similar proposals, this one, 399 King William, 171 Gouger & 230 (citation needed) Waymouth.

Yeh! Incredibly small footprint. Will accentuate the vertical aspect. Seems student market is still good despite costs etc
