I wonder if it's got anything to do with the economic troubles in Europe and America? For example, I heard somewhere that more international bands are touring Australia because of the financial woes overseas and people having less money to spend.

Also unconvinced. I very much doubt LV, Tiffany et. al. act as trendsetters when selecting locations in new markets - I'd hazard a guess that they're not of the 'build it and they will come!' ilk. This reminds me of the efforts a few years back to turn Grenfell St. into the Fancy Brands strip when Youthworks, Hugo Boss and B&O all opened up there, and that seems to have started a wave of.........nothing. Consumers with money are already in Rundle St. and Rundle Mall, or on King William Rd. Convincing shoppers to walk somewhere else is fraught with danger in this city (hello Myer Centre).

How long has Max Mara been on North Tce? I look at that and i'm easily reminded of a New York or Paris style boutique, and think surely more shops like LV and that would operate well on one of these other main streets other than Rundle/the Mall

I visited Rundle Street last night and noticed that Pierucci has closed, and that the Mimco store has also closed and is being replaced by a Gorman store.

The Mobil service station on the corner of Pulteney & Angas Street has been closed and is now surrounded by temp fencing.

Has there been any news on possible redevelopment of this site? Maybe it's part of the On the Run purchase of Mobil last year?

I was of the understanding that all of the ex-Mobil sites purchased by Perigrine (Shahin family) are still to be supplied with fuel by Mobil and will retain the Mobil branding on their price boards. The shops will be branded with the 'On The Run' format.
