By Adelaide standards that tram stop is woeful, yet over the border in Melbourne they are the norm.Nathan wrote:Hopefully it would give Adelaide Metro a kick up the arse to actually upgrade the "forgotten" City South stop...capitalist wrote:imagine all those student trying to use the tram stop out front....

They could at the very least provide some shelter, and some time tables. Taking the design of the other city stops, and slicing it down the middle to create two halves would work. You wouldn't be able to claim back much standing room, but it would be infinitely better than standing on a dreary traffic island with a bit of wire alongside.

Sales office is today being constructed on the corner of Waymouth and West terrace in the old Kresta? site.

For those who can't be bothered downloading the huge pdf:
And regarding the South Tce tram stop: there's no shortage of space as there's angle parking on both sides of KWS at both platforms which could easily be removed. It'll presumably need to be upgraded eventually as it's not disabled access compliant.

thanks for the images...i always thought that this development was going to fill the vacant land next to the Optus building, must have got my street numbers wrong!
I still think it will do wonders to the south end of the city...parklands close by and easy access to transportation for international students. I studied over in denmark in a similar student accommodation layout to this and it was great for interacting with other students. You had your own apartment with ensuite, but also had common areas where you can mingle with other students.
Here's hopeing the end of march comes and we see the DAC give a big tick to the project going ahead!!

looks like a similar style to the one proposed for Pulteney street (same developer?). I just hope some more taller buildings go up down this end of town to cover this one up a bit.
And yes, i think we can all agree the tram line in this part of town needs improving!

Just what the doctor ordered; this project would result in enough new residents to create a small hub of life in this previously dead end of town. If we also get a decent (covered) tram stop (and a few more trams) then this area already has some of the facilities that make people want to hang around for a while; the IGA, a few restaurants and hopefully the pub will open again. With a sufficient volume of people the rest will follow. Make it happen!

pub will never open again
but I agree with the rest of your post.

It will be an excellent example of 1950's architecture.

Will, those building don't compare. They have large expanses of glass, while 399 KWS has an expansive, um, wall!
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Is the height limit down there 40m - can't see 15 levels in that, but hope they are allowed - look at the Optus bldg. I like the bldg - gives a vast southern impression on entry to the CBD.
