Jim, a better place for those sort of posts is here: http://www.sensational-adelaide.com/for ... f=9&t=2429
Just to keep the place tidy. These threads are for construction discussion for the project at hand.
Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if the proposed underpass at the Sturt road/South road intersection will be build towards the start or towards the end of this project, or is in fact a separate stand alone project? Also what is the current ETC (Estimate to Complete) for this project?
[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
My understanding (limited) is that it is starting south and working towards the city so the sturt road underpass will be one of the last things. from memory it will be complete by November of 2014 (in time for the state election).Jim Boukas wrote:Can anyone tell me if the proposed underpass at the Sturt road/South road intersection will be build towards the start or towards the end of this project, or is in fact a separate stand alone project? I was of the understanding the Sturt Rd underpass was a separate project, part of the "Darlington Transportation Study"
"You pay for good roads, whether you have them or not! And it's not the wealth of a nation that builds the roads, but the roads that build the wealth of a nation." ...John F. Kennedy
[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
that was my understanding as well
that over/under pass was part of a greater upgrade of the precinct.

The Darlington flyover is a key component of both projects. Officially, it's part of the Southern Expressway duplication but there's also a direct link into the South Road underpass of Sturt Road should it proceed.

[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
I'm 100% sure the initial plans following the project's announcement included grade-separated interchanges at both the northern and southern ends. Now it seems that the northern end is part of the (separate) DTS project (no doubt awaiting federal funding), and grade separation at the southern end has been scrapped altogether.
"You pay for good roads, whether you have them or not! And it's not the wealth of a nation that builds the roads, but the roads that build the wealth of a nation." ...John F. Kennedy
[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
I thought the same thing the southern end was a interchange. With one way grade separated what happened
[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
I spoke to them at the community consultation about this, they said that they investigated trying to include grade separation at the northern end and to integrate it with the darlington transport study but given that was a separate project on a separate timeline with separate funding it was too difficult.jase111 wrote:I thought the same thing the southern end was a interchange. Grade separation at the Northern end will come when the darlington transport study results are funded.
[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
whilst I understand the issue with timing and funding - I find this statement terrible in terms of State developments, surely to god adequate planning could be made to provide for the best possible outcome for this intersection - despite the time frames?muzzamo wrote:I spoke to them at the community consultation about this, they said that they investigated trying to include grade separation at the northern end and to integrate it with the darlington transport study but given that was a separate project on a separate timeline with separate funding it was too difficult.Grade separation at the Northern end will come when the darlington transport study results are funded.jase111 wrote:I thought the same thing the southern end was a interchange. The Southern Expressway was meant to have been built with an eye to duplication, but from what I've read it hasn't been making the duplication mor expensive.
[COM] Re: #PRO: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
so they are planning on completing the northern end with a mere "duplication", which will be re-doing what was done less than 15 years ago, then "when the timeframe is right" they will re-do it yet again with grade seperation? oh what a waste
