Einstein riding a bicycle?

Ok I've seen half a dozen or so of these Einstein riding a bicycle pieces around the Adelaide CBD. Whether it's Topham Mall, King William Street, Central Markets etc.

My question is, what is the origin of these pieces? does anyone know what they are for and who put them there?

The Einstein pasteups are done by local artist Peter Drew: http://peterdrewarts.blogspot.com/
He's also responsible for the large script 'Bicycle' writing, and a few other bicycle themed pieces.
