News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
Re: News: Adelaide City Council
Regarding the new addition to the Grenfell Street Urban Form the Lord Mayor has provided the following response which I am happy to pass on without comment.
The “Safety fence” erected on the median strip of Grenfell Street is part of agreed safety precautions to be taken during the life of the redevelopment, further signage / hoardings / street occupation will take place soon. A series of Site Management Meetings have been held between the Administration, Building Contractors and the Developers to agree on what safety measures are required to be implemented to ensure public safety.
The reason for the fence is to stop people crossing Grenfell Street other than at the traffic lights at the Gawler Place / Grenfell Street and at the arcade entrance.
As the only entry point to the site during the development for demolition / construction vehicles is off Grenfell Street and the need for occupation of the existing footpath by the builder it is considered inappropriate to construct a pedestrian raceway on the northern side of the street owing to the lack of available space (limited width of street) and the interaction between vehicles entering the site and passing pedestrians. Therefore directing pedestrians across the street is the considered appropriate in this instance.

Re: ACC 3D Model Goes Online
Bored with work so i've been playing with the ACC's 3D model. It has a new feature (i don't remember it being there when i first played with this tool back in 2009)
==> Indicative Development Potential - Shows heaps of potential development locations - 10 years (yellow), 20 years (brown), 30 years (red). You can turn on/off per decade. Interestingly it shows ZERO development potential in Nth Adelaide. Also reinforces the pyramidal (pyramidic?) skyline.
and of course it shows the height limits. Just wish the ACC would show proposed developments
Also a couple of other new features - 1936 streetscape, and proposed local heritage locations.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Re: ACC 3D Model Goes Online
Don't think that will happen TBH. Initially it was thought that as part of the development application package would include a 3D KML type file, but that turned out to be illegal (if that's the right term) to demand/request that. So hence they probably don't have in their possession many buildings in the development assessment process.Wayno wrote: Just wish the ACC would show proposed developments
Would be nice though.
Re: ACC 3D Model Goes Online
thanks Howie. Hmm, illegal. Suppose that means no one is submitting KMLs with their DA requests.
Also, can't remember in which thread we were comparing Adelaide's core CBD size with other capitals, but here's what the ACC considers to be our core:

Re: News: Adelaide City Council
Two new benches have been installed on Rundle St, outside Endota Spa / Palace Nova.
I quite like the angular nature of them.

they would get very hot in the summer. Looks like the finished product has been toned down substantially from the initial proposal. http://www.glamadelaide.com.au/main/run ... -for-2010/

Have you guys seen this on the Adelaide City Council website?

Looks like an interesting initiative.
I submitted an "improve". I hate that open air car park on Pulteney Street. It is horrible and a waste of prime land. I hope something better can be done with it.

This is an absolutely fantastic initiative of the Adelaide City Council. I have been making several submissions thus far, and show no sign of stopping!

Hey kids.
Here's an interview Radio Adelaide did on this.
Good to see people getting involved.
