My partner suposedly spotted three trucks of 'crane' pieces driving through the city towards Adelaide University area. I only saw one myself.
Is a crane going up at the site of the Union Hall redevelopment?

Yeh I would think it would be. The uni have not been as "on the ball" with this one compared to innova21. There are no webcams, updates etc..

the green crane base has been at the uni for a couple of weeks now i think, and you can get a pretty good view of the site from the innova building.

maybe the crane will be going up soon :D

Are they mobile ones or actual proper cranes?

its always interesting when you travel overseas you realise our city is not bad at all, and quite buzzing along with construction. And very beautiful too. For a fairly large city like Montreal, there is next to no new buildings under construction, and hardly any cranes. Same in Edmonton and Winnipeg. A little bit going on in Vancouver, seems all construction is in Toronto only. Its fascinating that all non-Quebec Canadians blame Montreals stagnation on its pro French separatism that drove hundreds of English speaking companies and thousands of jobs to Toronto over the past 2 decades. The amount of street beggars in Montreal is incredible, grand old buildings though

previous comment. intersting to read as i have also just been to montreal too. saw quite a bit of construction in one patch outside the city but your right not much elsewhere. adelaide is a beautiful city when you compare it to others. you only have to go somewhere like jakarta to truly realise how good our lifestyle is. will be interesting how much more construction will occur over the coming years as investment picks up in the cbd

The first crane base is now on the Rundle Place site. By the looks of them they will be electric cranes, and if there are three on site, i'd dare say they'll be luffers.

What's the difference between an electric crane and a normal one?

electric cranes are quiet, diesel ones are loud and even louder when they start moving.

A luffing crane can raise and lower it's boom, as opposed to a fixed, Hammerhead style crane.

The Globe apartments crane is an electronic luffing crane, for example.
