Green Crane base installed at the IQ building on Franklin St. Also, as I was coming into the office today, I saw two trucks with crane tower sections on their trays, so I am assuming this is for TC3 at Rundle Place.

Also, there is some road closures on Gawler place at the ex police HQ with a massive mobile crane on site.

I was onsite recently and a rigger informed me that including RAH there will be as many as 18 cranes in the CBD at anyone next year - not bad considering we rarely if ever make double digits :secret:

Green Crane base installed at the IQ building on Franklin St
Any word on when this crane will be fully erected and commissioned? I saw it yesterday and around the first 10m of the mast has been installed.
Given it's a green one I assume this is also Baulderstone, and they tend to use only luffing jib Favco's - so I assume this will be one of those.

Bloody big basement currently being built for that building. They've used a CBP wall - anyone know if many other basements have used a CBP wall in Adelaide?

Welcome to the site mate. Sounds like you know a thing or two about construction. Will be great to have you on the forum.

I think the crane is going up this weekend, I saw a road closure on Franklin Street so assumed it's for this.

Is that Malcolm who was once active in Fidonet? If so, hi, and if not, hi also :)

The basement is very similar to 400 KWS, also HMRI and Harris Scarfe ...

Thanks mate. Long time viewer of this thread but just joined up yesterday.
I used to work in the construction game but got out around 6 years ago.
Spent the majority of my career working o/s (Singapore), where CBP walls were very common particularly for the (sometimes 3 or 4 level) basement car parks of office buildings, shopping centres and condos.
CBP walls were used extensively on one of the projects I was working on - we had 2 x 150m rows on each side of a road underpass box, to form the walls of the depressed carrigeways. They were the preferred method as they saved a lot of time (probably money as well) but also in many cases, we didn't have any where near the amount of lateral clearance required to build retaining walls.

Anyway, that's probably all a little off topic.

Thanks for the pics. No I haven't heard of Fidonet. Long time fan of the underated guitarist who formed a band in Sydney in 1973...

Given the amount of construction activity around Adelaide at the moment (CBD high-rises, airport and South Road Superway spring to mind), and the summaries of buildings U/C and amount of tower cranes in the CBD, it is a very exciting time for tower crane enthusiasts.

My office is on one of the uppermost floors of Westpac House, so we have pretty much unimpeded views of all tower cranes in the CBD at the moment. Happy to take some type of panoramic view and post here - and/or of certain tower cranes (the two Baulderstone Favco's in Franklin St spring to mind - both must be approaching 100m top of jib height).

Very Exciting times! Hopefully if some of these other approvals get going, we can get close to 20 with the new Hospital!

Must admit I've never really been a 'crane counter' but yet another of my colleagues from Melbourne, completely unprovoked, commented last week on how many things were being built around the city. So it *is* having an impact on visitors and, I hope, locals as well and maybe restructuring a bit of the negative attitude around the place (not on this forum, of course!).
