I bet you didn't hear that in the Advertiser.
protestors? what were they protesting against? they had salmon blood - really
I know right, they were psycho's. They had plastic bags full of the blood to attract sharks. Thankfully No sharks were attracted though.
They were protesting the competitions threat to the Hooded Plovers (of which there are only 800 left in existence). That was something we got hammered into our brains haha.
We made jokes about them saying the only reason why the protesters are protesting is that they're scared that if we sold half of a roasted hooded plover to each festival goer for dinner on the first festival day, they'd go extinct.

Only 800 Hooded Plovers left? Half a dozen of them used to nest in the carpark of my old workplace at Netley!

I really dont mind the Occupy Adelaide tent mini city in Hindmarsh Square. The square feels quite alive and very safe and social

The scary part is these people apart of this so called church, are actually young - eg 30s. It was so bad that Feast organisers will seek legal advice on the matter.

This shit has seriously got to end, these Preachers are doing so much damage to our city it's not even remotely funny anymore. I know the council is doing the best it can do, but more needs to be done urgently to get these foul mouthed hypocrite animals of our streets.
What "church", or denomination are they from? Don't tell me it's those Born Again guys that bought the old Greater Union on Hindley St?

IMHO, the cops should have provided the gay marchers and whack job preachers all with battons and let them beat each other up.
They are all as bad as each other, and just as hypocritical as well.
Both sides love to push their life style choices and beliefs into other peoples faces and try and get everyone else to accept them.

The rest of society doesn't give a shit about your life style choices or beliefs. Get over your selves. And that goes out to anyone on here as well who might be part of either group.

I'm Orthodox Christian, and I really couldn't give a rats ass about what other people do with their lives, or what they decide to believe in.
It doesn't affect me, until they start trying to shove it in my face.

And I don't think these preachers are doing any damage to our city.
The only people who seem to care are some minority groups in Adelaide who have different views and beliefs, like the gay community.
I really don't think the rest of Australia cares.

rev firstly, the cops are there to keep the peace not to encourage people to riot.

secondly the homosexual "lifestyle" is exactly the same as the heterosexual "lifestyle" and people cant control or choose their sexuality.. like when did you or I CHOOSE the "heterosexual lifestyle"??. Also with overpopulation i think we need more same-sex attracted people in the world to keep our numbers down.

and lastly these nutjob preachers ARE doing damage, they are driving away city shoppers in a time when retail is already struggling. Rundle Mall traders want them gone, the state government and the city council want them gone, and the vast majority of the general public (not just the minorities) want them gone.. :wallbash:

Mate, the Gay community might be a bit flamboyant and colourful, but lumping them in with these nut jobs is totally wrong.

Adelaide's gay community is practically silent and almost non-existent. Except around Feast.

The HUGE difference between the gays and these preachers is gays don't want force everyone to be homosexual.

Gays' message: hey we exist - let us live.
Religion's message: become one of us or else.

I never said anyone chose to be gay or straight.
Like I said I really don't care what people do with their life, as long as it doesn't affect me.

I doubt they've had that much of an impact on people coming to the city.

I don't know what your 'cheers'ing' me about, but I'll drink to that(any excuse will do)

3,000 years ago my ancestors believed in multiple Gods who lived on a mountain.
Today we believe in a single God.
Tomorrow we will believe in something else.
My point is that religion should not be about converting people or having people attend mass like zombies so they don't go to hell for eternity and blah blah.
It should be about ones own spirituality.
If they want that. If not, to each their own. No skin off my nose.

That's not my faith's message...
It might be the message of those nutty preachers in town, but they don't represent all Christians or all religious people(or people who generally believe in God but aren't all that religious).

I know they aren't trying to force everyone to be gay.
What I meant was we don't need them to constantly remind us they are gay or here their sob stories. Get on with your lives, the rest of us don't care what you do in your bedroom(or the back seat of your car or certain parklands we've all heard about lol) or who you do it with.
They want acceptance and to be treated like normal people. Well, the majority do just that. They accept them, and treat them like they would anyone else.

It really isn't an issue these days imo. Of course there are some people who will never accept gays. Just like there are people who will never believe in a God of any kind.

You are never going to have everyone agreeing and with the same views.

I can't marry my partner of 6 years. Changing this requires a change in the law. That's not gonna happen if we sit quietly in the corner.
