My department is staying in the Optus building though, bugger
Surely that would be until the building is completed in 2014 as the artcile mentions they want the bigger building to accomodate more workers as the company grows.
could be however I remember being told by executives that they specifically and strategically had a few floors of the Optus building because its on a different electricity grid than the Flinders St head office.
btw near all of the Flinders St office staff (that 4-5 level brick thing) have been moved to the Light square building so its almost "all go"

A head office for Adelaide - great. I wonder how many more therew will be once the mining boom gets going. I like the design as well.

From the latest edition of Colliers market report :
Late last year it was announced that
Commercial & General will develop a 20,000m²
building on the corner of Gawler Place and
Flinders Street. The newly formed People’s
Choice Credit Union (merger of Savings and
Loans Credit Union and Australian Central
Credit Union) has entered into a 10-15 year
leaseback arrangement with Commercial &
General for 10,000m² in the new building. The
deal will allow People’s Choice to consolidate
the existing site and relocate from Light Square.
Further pre-commitment is required before the
development can commence however it is
anticipated that building will get underway later
this year.

Thanks for the info
According to emporis (which I'm beginning to rely on too much for Adelaide building info) the buildings name is People's Choice credit Union National Headquarters, which is in itself a major mouthful, but at least the word national is in there. The site is 52-54 Flinders Street and will start construction in 2013 (or possibly late 2012 like you said) and be finished in 2014. It's 15 stories but still no official height, anyone want to make a guess?

You realise Emporis is authored by some of the most valued members of S-A?

This website is really good, not much data on Adelaide though still good
Hahah I used to be far more dependent on Emporis before finding SA and SSC as well. SkyscraperCenter is a great resource for most buildings, but like you said, hardly any data on Adelaide's buildings (because they're not talle nough
)

It seems like all developers do these days is walk into the local McArchitects and "I'll have the stock standard glass box with stripes instead of pods."

"You want stripes with that?"

Dull, dull, dull. Surely we can do better than that for a National HQ?
I appreciate that you need to stick to a budget, but a good design could be done that would cost no more.
In my opinion this is a boring glass box that adds nothing to the streetscape. My hope is that it goes through the new Design Review Panel (when does that start?) and major modifications are made to the external design before approval.
