As for Gouger Street, the roadway needs major streetscaping. For a 1 laned, cafe and restaurant street, its ruled by cars. End the 45 degree carparks, narrow the roadway and increase the width of the footpaths. Gouger Street has way more potential than a car traffic funnel that it currently is

Both Rundle and Gouger suffer from having a major car park emptying out onto them. (The proposed modifications to Grenfell also have this problem to overcome).

Hear, hear. And add a tramline too, while you're at it!

As for Grenfell - the only carpark is actually one owned by the ACC - a lot easier to get rid of (just need some strong political will to do so) than waiting around for a private owner to do so. Then we could see some real action happen on Grenfell... trees please!

I don't think they do own it anymore. It's a "CARePark" now and part of the Rundle Place Redevelopment.

Yes, fully agree with these sentiments.

Gouger St. is a gem but it would benefit from a greater balance of traffic in favour of the pedestrian and away from motor vehicles. Yes, eliminate all angle parking & reduce on-street parking, widen the footpaths, add more frequent and designated pedestrian crossings (much prefer give way style) and improve the streetscape with more trees for shade and aesthetics.

The ChinaTown section is crying out for revitalization and additional landscaping. It adds to the cosmopolitan feel of the street but it's quite disappointing.

The speed limit needs to be seriously curtailed for this and other city alfresco dining strips with big pedestrian movements. The carpark entry/exit to Gouger St. is a major impediment to this as can be seen when the street is closed off for special events eg Classic Adelaide.

As for the tram extension (city loop), I still feel that the much wider Grote St. continuing through the Square to Wakefield St. is the better route.

Gouger Street entrance goes to level two, while Grote Street goes to level one, so yes it would place too much pressure. The car park has 998 spaces spread over two levels and three buildings. It's a monster. On market days (esp Friday night and Sat morning) that place has all 5 exit lanes going full rate and barely keeps up.

Scaffolding along the lower upper levels the Renaissance Tower have already been removed to show dark grey panels, kinda similar to the renders earlier this year. It looks okay, but I hope this is just the start for much bigger things for that ugly building. The ground floor has not been touched as of yet, but Toys R Us have commenced a large clearance sale.



Scaffolding has also been removed for the 2-level retail store further down Rundle Mall (former Ed Harrys), nothing special but still better than the previous building.

on another note anyone know how long the pop corn van/shed has been in hindley street for? saw it for first time today, wow hamburger van now popcorn van, whats happening in adelaide how did the acc let all this progress get through unhindered

Noticed that 43 Rundle Mall (formerly Ed Harrys) has been nearly demolished

RE: Toy's R Us - how vile. It look's like all of Hindley street's saturday night vomit has been collected and pasted onto the building.

RE: Former Ed Harry's is definetly not an Apple as they demand that they have a minimum 15m wide frontage, amongst many other specifics. I know of someone who works in the industry who tried to get them to establish a store at Burnside Vilage and am told that they are - quote - "Absolute f***ing arseholes to deal with".
