Qantas International’s market share has fallen from 39 per cent to 14 per cent over the past decade, against a backdrop of intensifying competition from the emerging Middle Eastern carriers and other government-sponsored competitors with network and cost advantages.
That’s not a new statistic but it becomes even more disconcerting when the plans of China Southern are factored into the competitive mix Qantas is already grappling with. China Southern’s president, Tan Wan’geng, told a Gold Coast audience he plans to dramatically increase flights between Australia and China over the next four years and connect the Australian market to major hubs in Asia, Europe and the US.
China Southern is already operating 35 flights a week between China and Australia, up from 10 a week two years ago. It now plans to boost that to more than 110 a week by 2015. It isn’t, of course, alone. Asian and Middle Eastern carriers are now continuously entering the market and ramping up capacity on routes into and out of Australia.

On another note the Adelaide Airports new hand dryers are terrible.

Not only are they cramped and terrible, you also have a high chance of touching the sides of the cramped dryer with your hands like other people before you, thereby contracting bacteria from the dude with poo on his hands.
Epic fail on this technology.

Re: Adelaide Airport & Airline News
You really have trouble using an Airblade? I think they're perfectly fine, certainly better than traditional hand dryers.
Re: Adelaide Airport & Airline News
I like the new hand driers, so much better than old ones. They actually dry your hands and they do it very quickly.

Wait a second we have airblades now? Adelaide really is moving up in the world, they're like designer hand-dryers Now if we only had some tourists to use them...
Re: Adelaide Airport & Airline News
Talking about the hand dryers at the airport is hardly newsworthy
There isnt much news of late but anything to change the subject.... Bill Gates and family arrived in Adelaide on their Bombardier Global Express business jet a few days ago and were flown out by helicopter to KI to apparently stay at the Southern Ocean Lodge.

Re: Adelaide Airport & Airline News
Yes, i was surprised how quiet this one was kept but my source is from the Jetspotter forum. One of us could have easily alerted The Advertiser to his arrival but if the guy is here on a holiday, im sure he and his family deserve some serenity.muzzamo wrote:Got a source? If it is true, I'm surprised the Advertiser or any media source hasn't pick this one up yet, they occasionally check out forums for news stories or gossip
