News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ
Adelaide Metro had originally planned to re-open the line between Mawson Lakes & Salisbury Interchange once it had been completed, but this is now not the case. The whole completed line will reopen at the same time around March/April. I assume this is to allow the electrification works to be done whilst the track is closed and to minimise future track closures.

I just had two people from DTEI knock on my door letting me know the erection of masts for electricfication will begin next week in front of my house.
Would i be the only person who is excited about having 8 metre high eyesores in viewing distance from their doorstep?

Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ
Anyone got a diagram or picture of how on earth they move the bridge out for each new section? I just can't see how they are doing that!
Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ
They are using a hydraulic system that is attached to the top of each of the tower segments to pick up the deck and move it forward. The method was first used on the record breaking Millau Viaduct in France, see here for an explanation and video: http://www.enerpac.com/en/integrated-so ... into-spacemooshie wrote:Anyone got a diagram or picture of how on earth they move the bridge out for each new section?
