There aren'y any houses along that part of South Road, and I haven't noticed any businesses that have lost land.
Anzac Hwy underpass though they did acquire some property/land.

check again....

Having checked again on Nearmap, Rev's almost right - apart from the golf course, most of the land acquired has been from a watercourse beside South Road. Some businesses have lost a bit of land, but no buildings appear to have needed demolishing - though I can't be 100% sure because in industrial areas like that, buidings are constructed and demolished all the time.

Quite a bit of land was acquired on the western side of South Road between Days Road and Grand Junction Road for the site office and casting yards for the concrete segments. Also, some land on the western side north of Grand Junction Road has also been acquired for temporary road.

If you mean the north bound diversion that wraps around the Caltex service station, if you check Feb 1 Nearmap you will see both lanes run northbound and they have placed a lane specifically for a truck to use, with all 4 corners widened to facilitate turning. Having driven it numerous times, the lanes are quite flowing and generous in their dimensions, these are not detour 'goat tracks'

Went through South Road the other day, and this thing is huge. Will look great once it's completed

Quite a lot has been happening.
The elevated section near Days Road is almost all joined up. Well the first two piers or so anyway leading back to the bit the road elevation thing from south road. It looks impressive in person. Very imposing on the surrouding landscape.
The support piers are going to be going up very soon a little further up South Road just past BP and around Grand Junction road.
The area near the Port River expressway has had some earthworks done and yesterday they were laying bitumen, so I guess some new lanes. There's still earthworks going on the western side.

is there any indication that the feds will cough up for more money to keep it going? (I'm assuming a few people around here have some insight into this)

The areas past where it currently ends are a bit too residential for a project like this I would think.

A study is underway in the whole section between this and the Gallipoli underpass. Should be hearing something this year I would think. Funding is another matter though.

if it cost $800 mill approx for a stretch aprox 3km how much money and timeframe would it take to do the rest, unfort it may take at least another 10 years to be completed :(

The State Government has set a target of 2020 by which to have the whole South Road project completed. Eight years left. Fingers crossed!

I'd like to see them tackle Regency Road to Anzac Highway in one hit. But if they were to do that hypothetically, that would mean creating an alternate north-south route while works are in progress. If that ever becomes the case, I would go with Hanson/Kilkenny/Holbrooks/Marion Roads or something. From my knowledge, quite a few homes around the immediate area of David Terrace in Woodville Park are owned by DTEI or some branch of government.
Our state, our city, our future.

It depends on what they do for the rest of South Road.
This bit cost $800 million because of what it is, an elevated highway.
The cost probably increases slightly when they keep the majority of the road open so traffic continues to flow and they work around it.
That would probably slow construction down a bit as opposed to closing that section of South Road down entirely and working with unfettered access for construction crews.

There's no obvious solution, but shutting down South Rd for months or years would not be an option.

What about the hundreds of businesses fronting South Rd?
