[COM] Adelaide Convention Centre - Stage 3 | $350m
[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre, Casino & Riverbank Developme
Looks fantastic (as did the last proposal), but it concerns me that so far both proposals hint at being completely independent of DPTI's Riverbank masterplan.
If this is going to succeed, it needs to be part of an integrated effort from all parties rather than a piecemeal approach from individual stakeholders.
At this stage it might only be a concept, but I think it'd be more fruitful for the precinct as a whole if all parties were working together and from the same page, rather than releasing tid-bits like this willy-nilly for political manoeuvring.

Really liking the new design - a little futuristic, good height and size.

Yeh the design is decent, will look much better when done I don't think those renders depict it very well. Anyone know if the North Terrace frontage design has been revised? From what I remember it was very underwhelming and boring, hopefully it's improved

The Casino releases this shit so often it's getting boring. I'll believe it when I see a crane on site.

I drove past the Festival Centre this afternoon and there was scaffolding being erected in the Hajek Plaza area. There was also temporary fencing being setup around the perimiter.
Should i start getting excited that something is actually happeing to clean up this blight on our City? Or is it just being setup as a Festival venue?

Well i guess the hub will provide a taste of what is to come for the plaza.

how dissapointing.. the renders are short of showing something truly world class. too much large expanse of open space not activated, there is no way there will be as many people there as shown in the images unless for a big event. very narrow minded and how unfortunate if this plan eventuates, a lost opportunity for something really dynamic, and creative for this niche area..!

the cinemas cafes and restaurants and bars should keep people there at nght howevr would still like to see a unique water feature on the torrens as a drawcard,as for daytime there should be people around with hotels and office workers and the hospital up the road with workers and and people visiting, and that would be on days there is no afl match or major cricket match then you are going to get an influx of anywhere between 30,000 and 50,000 people travelling in and around the precinct and if you keep major events happening at festival square eg major football matches and other evnts on the big screen buskers, markets etc that will draw people there at other times when there is no match on at the oval.Hippodamus wrote:how dissapointing.. the renders are short of showing something truly world class. too much large expanse of open space not activated, there is no way there will be as many people there as shown in the images unless for a big event. very narrow minded and how unfortunate if this plan eventuates, a lost opportunity for something really dynamic, and creative for this niche area..!

I don't think you can take anything about Festival Plaza from those Casino renders. I would say SkyCity just put that in to make their own development look prettier.
